GTX 1070 G1 Gaming: GPU idling voltage
My current GPU idling voltage is 0.650 V (shown by GPU-Z, Xtreme Engine Utility and Afterburner). I remember that when I bought my graphic card in summer 2016 I saw less idling voltage 0.625 V. How is it possible? Is it my current idling VDDC correct? From summer 2016 to now I upgraded the graphic BIOS version: F1 to F2 beta, and F2 beta to F2 (current version). The current idling voltage could change due to this BIOS changes? Please, I will really appreciate an anwers on this concern.

This is my rig:
Computer type: Desktop, custom built.
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming, 8 GB GDDR5 (Samsung), no OC
Motherboard: MSI Z170A Gaming M7, lastest BIOS (1.H0)
RAM: Kingston HyperX Fury 32 GB (2x16 GB) DDR4-2133, no OC
PSU: Corsair RM750x
OS: Windows 10 Pro build 1703 64 bits, clean install
GPU drivers: 381.89, clean install

Idk but you really have nothing to worry about.
.650 volts?! have your fire extinguisher ready!

it's fine. likely due to the bios update.
:steamhappy: Thank you guys!

My gtx 1060 is idling at 0.675 so you can be happy about yours :D
0.825 here on GTX 1080 =P
0.650v on my 1080Ti ASUS ROG Strix OC
That's what I thought, but I needed the confirmation of someone who had the same graphics card and the same vBIOS versión. Following instructions from the Gigabyte Support department months ago I updated the BIOS to the F2 version to solve a problem related to Fan duty, but until now I had not noticed that small change in the voltage at idle. Even though this change in voltage at idle seems almost insignificant and probably improves the memory stability in case of OC, the manufacturer should report on it in the release notes. In this case they only reported that the fan duty had been fixed...

ugafan I assumed you had the same graphics card I have, I'm right?

Different Idle temps
Will yield different voltages

Its normal

Thanks dude but I have same idle temps as before (~ 30 ºC), so I'm pretty sure that the idling voltage difference I noticed in this case it doesn't have to do with the temperatures.
If there is someone who has the same card and BIOS (F2 / 86.04.50.00.7A) and can report his idling voltage I could clear up any doubts on this...
i don't have the same card, but you have absolutely nothing to worry about. it's completely fine.

truth be told, i'm not even sure exactly sure what you're worried about. every card is different. some cards require higher voltages than other cards. probably what happened is they found some of the 1070s weren't completely stable at .625 so they gave a slight bump to everyone's minimum voltage. it's not a big deal.

In fact I'm not worrying about it, I'm just curious and if possible I'd like to know if people with the same card and BIOS version has the same idling voltage. And yes, what you are saying is just what I think has happened.

Just what we thought :steamhappy:. Here is what Pato9 answered to me on his youtube channel:

Thx u my friend! My GPU is the same of yours, and the Bios is the same 86.04.50.00.7A, and the VCCD is 0.6500 in iddle too, i think you have no reason to worry! Big Hug!

So it's clear that with the F2 BIOS version the idling voltage changed from 0.625 V to 0.6500 V and surely for the better.

Hi, which Nvidia driver version are you using? With the F1 BIOS version its idling voltage should be 0.625 V...
I just downloaded the new driver and its now 625 mv

Perfect dude! Remember: F1 idle 625 mV / F2 idle 650 mV
