Intel Coffee lake - Worth to wait?
So i sold my pc and currently using my 2 years old laptop right now. Im planning to build a PC but with intel CPU not AMD's because i only gaming and ryzen is not pretty good at gaming which's sucks. So, my choice is: Get the I7 7700k, or wait until august for intel coffee lake to be released?

Where are you guys getting this stuff about the 6 core coffee lake not having hyperthreading? That doesn't make sense. The point is to compete with Ryzen's multicore products, and having half the threads would hurt performance.

That's why I'm not personally bothering with it. Rather wait out for Cannonlake or later (but I'm already on Skylake and a Haswell Refresh).

It's also still a 14nm chip (12-15% gain?), where as Cannonlake would be 10nm chip (15-25% gain?) over previous generations.

Saying that, depending on what you are currently using, it's still a huge leap up and will perform well in most cases. Also, the 14nm chip had several years to mature (double refreshed), while the 10nm would still just be in the process stage (an infant node). So that's something also to consider.

As I see 7?40K lane yet another new socket and suspect not one for Cannon Lake. Not impressed. And where are the 6 and more cores, not counting the X platform that will hardly be feasible?

Minor correction here but Intel doesn't do tick/tock anymore.

Sure they do; SkyLake vs KabyLake is a tick/tock example

Kaby was a 2nd tock and Coffe another uncsheduled tock. For practical purposes the tick-tock is long gone and after 10nm actually happens the next down step is not even on horizon.

Just buy a Ryzen 8C/16T and be done with it; why debate "what will come"

You don't need more than 4 core for home usage atm. More than that, the more core CPU has, the slower it become gaming-wise. Because more cores == lower clockrate.

In the meantime I found the info: http://wccftech.com/intel-coffee-lake-desktop-6-core-4-core-cpu-leaked/ this 6-core i5 is defnitely worth attention if properly priced along the current i5 line traditions.

Thx for the info. Didn't know that. If it will have decent clockrate it can become most interesting and game changing CPU this year.
