Constant BSOD with Windows Update enabled, please help!
Heres my specs first of all
Intel Core i7-5820k CPU @ 3.3GHZ
AMD Radeon R9 Fury X 17.4.3 Driver (latest WHQL)
8GB Ram
Windows 10 64 bit
No overclocking or tweaking

My issue is, ever since the Creators Update from Microsoft, I have had over 20 BSOD, all with the same code, Bad_pool_header.
I have tried a lot of things. Uninstall, reinstall graphics drivers, check my RAM, use Windows trouble shooting in settings, start in safe mode, clean boot, disable and enable things, and none seem to work. Even in safe mode, it happened.
It seems to stem from Windows Update. When trouble shooter worked, it said a driver still needed to be installed. I did the whole "fix now", and it tried to install a Realtek USB driver. I have installed the most current driver for that USB card reader from Realteks website, and it doesnt have that update required anymore, however, it still says there is an update that needs to happen. I check again and it says theres a Windows Defender update. It downloads, then when it tries to install, it gets stuck, and thats when the BSOD happens with the bad pool code.
I tried to understand the dump file it creates, but it says its a svchost thats causing the issue. When I check the Event Viewer, it says that it has to do with Kernel Power, event 41. With that being said, I am super confused and frustrated.
As of now, Windows Updater is disabled, and it helps keeping my system from BSOD, but I would like that running obviously for critical update. If the BSOD will happen, I would rather keep it disabled. I am at a lost for ideas.
I hope the Steam Community can help, Microsoft was NO help at all. The guy was copying and pasting responses to me, so I just quit that.
Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Personally
id just use Shutup10 to disable Win Defender and be done with it

When has it actually been useful for anyone?

While it can be a faulty RAM stick, if it were i think you would have been having issues long before the update.

I agree with your point. I have determined it is Windows Defender/Windows Update, and some ntoskrnl.exe file that is causing this. I just read a thing where the Creators Update is not all there and Microsoft is basically getting free beta testing from all us who downloaded and is using it, and reporting errors to them.
Its frustrating that I cant use basic features on my computer, and how this update happens and screws up my rig. Over 20 BSOD = Unacceptable.

Just to update more troubleshooting I have done, I did memtest and some command line thing that checks for faulty driver and what not. Came back as nothing wrong. Funny how that works.

Just found this by doing a Windows Driver Verify through the run command. BSOD happend and had to do a system restore. At least I know which driver is bad now.

So after hours of trouble shooting, I tested drivers over and over, and after uninstalling all my drivers, heres what comes up now, I am laughing and crying at the same time.

The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Your system configuration may be incorrect. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver on your system that cannot be identified at this time.

The verifier, the thing thats supposed to help me find bad drivers, found out itself was a bad driver as well. Now what the hell do I do, now that the fixers are against me.

Alright..

Well, either uninstall the update (if possible)

Or do a Clean Win10 install

System issues are always a pain, installing Win10 WITH the update with it may be the best option.

I might just do the clean install. All my games except 2 are on cloud based saves, pictures and videos, docs and files are all on removable drives, there is no other choice I guess. Thanks for the help. Such a pain.
Thank you Microsoft for making the last week hell and ruining my system. My support for you is no longer valid.:steamsalty:

Even with cloud saves on
You may want to manually backup your important saves just incase
Bad 💀 Motha 27 ABR 2017 a las 6:39 a. m.
Just backup any files off C drive first; it does not long anymore to completely redo a WinOS.
Not like the old days.

Whatever games don't do Cloud Save Sync; download GameSave-Manager do a system search for saves and then do backup. Then install it after an OS is redone and then do a restore of your saves.

For an OS redo; ensure you are actually downloading install ALL hardware drivers yourself:
- Motherboard Chipset
- GPU
- Audio
- LAN
- USB 3.xx
- SATA/AHCI

Then use this to check and see if there are anymore outdated:
