From GTX760 2GB to RX570 4GB
Is it worth it?

I don't need to play all games in next years at max settings, only DOOM and DiRT4 at stable 60fps 1920x1080p high settings.
If will be released a new interesting game I would sell this GPU and replace it.
So no futureproof needed just here and now.
(I like only a few games series: Duke Nukem-Serious Sam-Age of Empires-Grid-Dirt and maybe DOOM).
No GTA, COD, BF, and others.
I have i7 4771, 8gb ram.
My only indecision is about the reliability of this GPU and AMD drivers (especially I found a video of Linus on YouTube which shows minimum frames lower than RX470 and GTX1050ti but it could be a temporary driver bug).

So, RX570 4GB best buy or best trap?

The RX 570 is still a new GPU but it is a good buy.
I'd say that they are a pretty good buy.

Why only 4GB? Get the 8GB variant if you don't want a bottleneck.

I know 6/8 GB are better but 4gb should be enough for DOOM (not max settings) and DIRT4.

Its best to just pay a bit more and get the 8gb version for future proofing.

I think in 2 years (if not before) this GPU would be too weak to guarantee 60 fps and the vram would be useless (but I can be wrong).
I'm not sure it could handle now 60fps in the games I wrote before, really proibitive for future)

I'd just look at the Rx 480/580 4GB and avoid the potential min fps fiasco or bite the bullet and spend the $224-$234 on an Rx580 8GB and be done with it.

Ps, generally reject cards that get re named like the GTX1060 3GB and the Rx 470/570 because they didn't meet the grade are too basterdized and hacked up for my tastes.

Yes min fps are very bad in RX 570, it should be the RX 470 fixed version but AMD optimization seems a joke.

Get a 570 thats more than good enough for high end games

i watched the video and doom nightmare requires more than 4gb vram. that's likely why the minimum framerates took such a hit. also notice the discrepancy between the 7700k and 1800x results.

if you want to avoid this problem, run doom on ultra or high instead of nightmare. or get the 8gb card.

Do you fancy a cheaper way to get Rx 570? Get a dual bios Rx 470 and force flash Bios to Rx 570. Yep, it works, because Rx 500 is just 400 with better firmware and probably better bin chip. Everything else is 100% the same. Best try this on dual bios card in case new bios broke.

Dual bios cards? Which models?

Sapphire Nitro + series feature Dual BIOS, and people have had success flashing RX 470/480 into 570/580. You need to be careful and make sure your card has enough juice to handle the change, as the 500s series require butt load more power (for little performance gained). Of course, this is not official so anything you're doing most likely void warranty.

Be warned though, RX 570 and RX 580 use as much if not more power than GTX 1080 Ti/Titan X(P) or Titan Xp. Make sure you have ample power supply, those are like FX-9590 of the GPU.

Interesting, yes I have a CX750M as power supply, it should be enough.

There is no such thing as future proofing. Its a myth. I bet, 8GB VRAM for middle end graphics is useless.
