My Asus pg279q arrived with backlight bleed ;(

Today i finally became owner of Asus PG279Q - seriously monstruous screen . It's so much different from my good ol' asus vh232t .
Unfortunetly for me,it's seems my monitor arrived with backlight bleed. I read so much about that,and im pretty well informed about that.
I have 8 more days to give it back if im not satisfacted,so im curious,all of you who have similiar monitors like mine,what is ''acceptable'' amount of backlight bleed for you personally. Can you live normal with that,or you aim for absolute perfection ?

I have a different monitor but it only bleeds from the top,

It doesn't really bother me I barely notice that.

But if you paid a good amount for that screen I'd say return it if your not satisfied.

I barely see it so personally I'd just stick with it

It's IPS monitor, all IPS monitors have some backlight bleed, it's kinda price you pay for true 100% sRGB colors. Guess it's up to you if you can live with that, usually you get used to that and wont notice it much unless you extra look for it.
Try it while gaming, usually it's not that noticeable while gaming unless there are lot of dark areas.

This is very true^
The bleed on the bottom right corner is pretty big though. Mine has slight bleed on all four corners similar to the left side of your screen but it's not noticable even in dark games(I only notice it when I'm on a flat black screen like when you took those pics) so I'd recommend doing what Rumplecrutchskin said and give it a try while gaming to see if it's noticeable.

To be honest, first impression are good,i believe i won't ''have problem'' with that . But you know, friend who was guiding me during shopping process , he have acer xb271hu which is basicly same monitor,and he claims his acer is absolute perfect,he says he don't have this ''problem '' . I also read some other forums,and some people claim their 279 are also without blb . This is what bothers me

That's pretty well not possible. It's possible they've never noticed it or it's very minor but zero blb on an ips isn't even a thing as far as I've ever seen.

I never said my Acer is perfect. It definately has IPS glow.
But no noticable BLB like your pictures would indicate.

Judging by my XB271HU the IPS glow is only visible at an angle. If i adjust my viewpoint so i look completely straight at a spot, the area turns black.

If you look straight at it and it still shimmers, that's BLB.

From those pictures the bottom right corner does look kinda bad, the other corners are pretty much what you would expect from IPS monitor.

Definitely return it and get a new one. For $700+, we shouldn't have to settle for problems like this. I have an Acer Predator XB271HU and returned two for having stuck pixels before getting one that was pristine.

i have p279q and this monitor is awesome. IPS got a problem about blacklight bleed, it's not for only p279q but all IPS monitors....

Mine got minor blacklight bleed, and in game i dont think about it !!!!

i have a gtx 1080ti and pg279q, it's the best combinaison, i think.
BF1 ultra is awesome.....

i hope gtx 2080ti or Idk will release very fast : i need more power !!!!

IPS will inherently have bleeding and glow. Glow tends to get better overtime, while backlighting bleed won't. You can fix (rather make better, as it will never be completely gone) backlighting bleed yourself, but it isn't simple and will definitely void your warranty.

I cannot really tell from the pictures, but it looks like a combination of glow and bleed. The bottom right corner appears to have a lot of bleed. Pictures can make it look worse than it really is.

Is this with full brightness? If so, turn brightness down and see if it gets acceptable. No one should really use a monitor at full brightness anyways.

If it is not acceptable to you, and you are able to return/refund (many places will deny this reason for replacement), then go ahead and do it.

Unless its much newer OLED kinds; they generally will all suffer from some level of backlighting-bleed.
