Which GPU should I buy?

I have this PC: Advent model no: DT1411
Intel core i5-2330 processor
8gb ram and 1.5tb hard drive
Dedicated amd hd6670 2gb gddr3 graphics
I don't know alot about computers.
I can play last man standing on lowest settings with about 15-20fps
Just wondering what would be an ideal GPU to buy either gtx 1050, 1050ti or 1060?

1060 is usually best, but if you dont have the money, get a RX 470/570/580 4GB

The cpu is probably an i5-2320 (a lot better than an i5-2330m which is a poor laptop cpu).

You have a few upgrade options which depend on whether you want to stick with your current cpu or upgrade it as well. It might be upgradeable to something that could play current AAA titles on ultra settings.

So the question is how much do you want to spend? Now and maybe in the future.

If you want a 1060 buy a 6gb version. It will work OK with your cpu.

Before you buy any gpu, you first need to take the case off to check what power supply you have. There should be a label on the side. We also need to know if there are any spare power leads that end in small 3x2 or 4x2 plugs.

Update: we also need to check if the motherboard bios supports UEFI, otherwise new graphic cards won't work.

yes my bad it is a i5-2320
i have looked on ebay and a gtx 1050 is about £100
a gtx 1050ti is about £150
and a gtx 1060 is about £200
i dont mind paying the £200 for a 1060 aslong as it will run well for my computer.
i want to play games like last man standing and maybe player unknowns battlegrounds
i dont really mind about playing new AAA titles as i have an xbox one for that

good luck getting a 6GB 1060 for £200

Unless you are looking for a 3GB

1050 ti would be more ideal for that cpu, you won't get the full performance out of the gtx 1060 with that cpu.

So recommended a 1050ti? Would that play player unknown battlegrounds well?

Maybe around 50 fps at low/mid 1080p, that game is unoptimized.

It's very hard ^ to find direct comparisons using old hardware but close enough.

I think the gtx1050ti is a little under selling the cpu look at the Rx 570 or the higher GTX1060.

RX 470 is slightly more expensive but better, but those I think they stop making now, 570 would be good

RX 570/580.

570 if budget/bottlenecking is a concern, 580 for full power. I would recommend the 580 over the 1060 since it has the same (if not slightly better) performance for less money.

Also cryptocurrency mining if you're into that kinda thing.

i have no clue on computers to be honest just want a simple swap over of my graphics card to be able to play games smoothly with decent fps lol and i have been told that nvidia is the way to go as it's better than radeon?

Nvidia is better than Radeon in the higher end market (1070 and up) since Vega hasn't launched yet, but in the mid-lower market (1060 down) Radeon is honestly better with the exception of the RX 560 and low-wattage PSUs.


Be sure that you delete ALL GPU drivers using DDU before installing a new card, no matter what card you buy. Also remember to install the drivers for your new card when you install it.

Ppl tend to be biased against amd gpus, however the GTX1060/Rx 580 are similar with the Rx 580 pulling ahead in a majority of DX12 games.

Personally I've had no problems with amd/ati cards and drivers. I started with the ati 9600xt/x800xl then went to NVidia 8800gts640MB/GTX280 1GB then went amd all the way up to now and just ordered an Rx580 8GB.

And yes the Rx580 310 Sol/s is better than GTX 1060 281 Sol/s in mining.
