GTX 1070 Benchmark
This is hopefully going to be the last time I ever create a discussion (after the tens of others I've created) but I need one last help.

I need help about benchmarks for both ASUS ROG Strix (OC) and Gigabyte Xtreme Gaming (both being 1070s).

We're running stock clocks on gpu's, not overclocked btw.

And that's another thing; why do folks even bother? It yields basically the same results as stock. It's pointless unless you have extreme cooling. If these small consumer OC's meant a dam thing, we'd all do it, or pay the extra for a pre-OC'ed GPU. But the truth is, these little OC's you all share, we all know they do nothing to add FPS, so why bother doing it?

Well like with the 1000 series they oc more automatically. Like my boost clock is supposed to be 1860something but it runs at 1987 or something. Gpu booste 3.0 is great.
Well yea the Boost Clocking is good OC I guess, I mean it's auto, why not right.
I just meant tinkering with manually OC'ing these air cooled GPUs, they usually really won't help boost the FPS enough (if at all really) to make it worth doing. Usually have to have a water-block and custom-loop to make manually OC'ing them worth-while in most situations of in-game FPS comparisons.

But yea I do hear alot of "stay away from Gigabyte due to coin wine"
Folks... any GPU or PSU could potentially do this. It is not normal, RMA the product if un-happy. It's what the warranty support is for.

which says nothing. with SLI/CX or a 6950X you get best benchmark scores but they still suck in real usage... also with no comparrison it is absoulty an information which doesnt tell anything.

Here's my 1070 results for comparison:

I know my computers y'all, and the point isn't what version of Windows I was using. I have a good air cooling setup with the Strix that runs stably at 2.1ghz/9Gbps in all games (Overwatch is particularly memory clock sensitive). The overclocked difference manifests in framerate, not just benchmarks. I generally net a 10%-15% FPS increase over stock, which is noticeable to me. It's a free performance improvement that takes an hour to configure - why wouldn't YOU want free FPS?

Besides it is fun to push your hardware as fast it can go, just like tuning a sports car or bike that is fast already. You can gain horsepower in a car/bike by simply shedding weight and changing the air filter. If you're happy with fast enough, then obviously overclocking or tuning isn't for you.

Well said! I told myself (and I've been told as well) not be a geek and insane about the whole overclocking thing. The main reason I eventually decided to go with "K" CPU (well RAMs still at 2400Mhz), Z-Motherboard, and whatnot, is because of the future-proofing - so that my new PC will be strong enough for the next three/four years, that I'll be able to overclock my components so I won't have to stay behind and most likely won't be able to play normally.
