First thing that I thought about when I read this was the 'SteamBox'. If PSVita would have Steam on it it would mean that the future of SteamBox could be even more wonky.
Expect of that there is a compatibility issue. All those games would have to be made for specific hardware. What you would get than is 2 versions of each game that would be for the PC and PSVita (same as in the PSStore that many games have PSVita version and PS3). That would lead to higher development costs.
BUT if Steam would be compatible with PS4 (yes Playstation 4) that could be 'easier' because of the known x86 architecture.
I think that everyone would want to have Steam as their unified gameshop platform on pc, mac, mobile phones and handheld because it is the greatest market.
I would at least want to have the Steam app on more than only my phone and with bit more options than now. Like when the PS4 wil come out it wil come with a mobile app that wil make it possible to buy the game (like steam app) and install the game on your home console. So Steam could maybe register on which pc`s/mac`s your account is registered and give the possibility to buy and install the game on specific machine.
