Steam dock to have a alarm clock
Add a timer to the dock, so people who need to stop playing can set it. So after an allotted amount of time has passed it will quit the current game or just have an alarm go off. Obviously.

naw, see i want it to save and quit automaticly so im not tempted to say "oh just after this quest/ 5 more minutes" it will take the problem out of my hands!

I wouldn't want an instant quit unless it saved a memory snapshot of the active game... so I could resume... exactly... where I left off.
But that has its own security problems... It would have to be stored encrypted and steam should be able to tell if its been tampered with (or completely replaced or altered).

i actually like the idea of having an alarm clock, but i would not want it to quit my game, just to play a sound

Well you wouldnt have to have it on auto quit i was thinking of it having the 2 options. 1. alarm and 2 quit. i mean something like tf2 it just gives you hl2 error... (joke) but maybe instead of instantly quitting it gives you like 5 more minutes to save and quit. im just throwing ideas out.

And what do people do with alarm clocks? Hit snooze and go back to sleep, in this case hit snooze and keep playing!

thats why i was thinking the auto quit thang.

auto quit won't work unless you don't care about loosing your progress. Different game genres have different save methods and different information. For an RPG you usually need to find a save point, for platformers and fps it's normally a level completed or checkpoints. For puzzles its per puzzle or series of puzzles. As you can see that would create a problem, it all depends on the developer designs their saved system. Your idea would work fine for MMOs though.
