Sci-Fi RPG
I'm looking for a game (preferably on steam) that is a sci-fi rpg, maybe isometric or some other top-down style of game. I've played system shock 2 and Invisible War recently which kind of qualify but I'd like a full blown rpg.

The only full blown rpg that Steam has is The Last Remnant which qualifies as a real turn-by-turn battle system war. Most people who never played it or ignores much about it will tell you that it sucks. (Most likely from a personal grudge toward Square. You know, people and their mentalities.) I personally love it myself since it respects just how good Square games are.

Other than that, there are not much real RPGs on Steam, not that there are a lot on PC to begin with. Many games with RPG elements but no active/turn-by-turn RPGs as I know them. if you are really looking for top-down, which I imagine is like sky view, then Torchlight 2 and its kind is where it's at. Not too sure about sci-fi for this one though... Personally, I think PC game makers don't really like us RPG gamers because the only good ones I know about are on consoles so yeah, tough luck.

I am sure I wasn't too helpful to you though but I'm taking a chance.
PC used to be THE platform for RPG. Thanks for the lengthy response, you were as helpful as possible given the subject matter. I didn't realize how few Sci-Fi RPGs there were until I started looking for one.
Mass Effect is an excellent suggestion, unfortunately I've played them.

PC is still the platform for RPGs, and will remain so until consoles also get easy access to mods.

Not a whole lot out there on the top-down, sci-fi front that I can think of though. Mass Effect would have been my first suggestion too, followed by Fallout 3 + New Vegas, and I guess then I'd probably have to jump back to the KOTOR games - 2 is much better with the Restoration mod installed.

Yeah but I meant all cool games like Final Fantasy and Tales series... I personally have never seen a cool rpg made by Square or Atlus on PC or if any epic turn-by-turns rpgs, if not one or two at big most. Besides, japan is the one who has them. >.> (lucky bastards) I am getting off subject, though. I didn't think to mention Mass Effect because I didn't remember about it but yeah... I can't really think about any others like you're looking for.
The Japanese just don't seem to be PC fans. Thanks for the input Gus, I've just run through Fallout 2 through New Vegas, and the first KOTOR actually. I doubt I'll ever replay the second.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown just came out recently. I'm not sure if you'd be interested or not, but it definatly matches what you asked for.

try fallout 2, fallout tactics or the original xcom... i know thats not really scifi, BUT those games are just the best isometric rpgs till today!
I definitely plan on getting XCOM: Enemy Unknown or at least renting it at some point. I still do need to play Human Revolution, I just want something with stronger RPG elements right now. If somebody would just make something like the old Fallout games (turn based combat, isometric, stat based) but sci-fi I would be set, at least for the time being.

There is an assload of RPGs on the PC and steam I have no idea what Sera is talking about. If you only care about triple A games then you are missing out on some of the best games you will ever play. Last Remnant did suck it was uninspiring the characters were absolutely forgetable and the story held no interest, thus the reason it wasn't well recieved. You sound like you want a TBS if you are asking for old fallout types of games.

Sins of Solar Empire, carrier command, there is all sorts of SCi-FI RPG/TBS like games on steam just search for em.

Check console rpgs then come back. This is what I talk about... Where's my Final fantasy on pc? Not talking of 12~14. Where's my Xenosaga on pc or where's my Tales of game? Disgaea, maybe? Nowhere? Oh yeah, console only, right? Too bad... PC rpgs are nowhere close to those games and nowhere as good in my opinion. Assload maybe, epic action and turn-by-turn rpgs, not really. Only maybe Phantasy Star Online 1~2... Sad but true.

Just cause you are fanboy of square enix does not make the assload of PC games any less epic or bad. All that ♥♥♥♥ is on console for a reason because it plays better with a controller. Now days you can use a standard 360 controller to work on almost any game but that was not the case a long while ago so the games were built for console. It also allows the developer to work with one set of hardware and not the multiples of PC setups. Most console studios do not want to deal with the extra headaches. You are only talking about triple A name brand developer RPGs and not the actually genre that's the problem.

Well, I think I'll throw a couple thoughts in here, mostly cause I feel like it. For one thing, the term "RPG" can mean two different things. Originally, it refered to any game where you take on the role of a character. (Role Playing Game.) An example off the top of my head would be this:http://store.steampowered.com/app/206440/ which, though it has no character leveling at all, is listed as an RPG. The more commonly use of it though, is games where you level up you character, weapons, ect, through a story/mission based game.
So, that said, these:

are not RPGs, though they are good games.
Well, that's about it.

Yeeeah. But I still say console rpgs are better anyway. There's no way a pc game will be as good as all of those old and new console games out there but I mainly talk rpg wise. Sure, Mass effect and the kind is excellent but while the kind pleases to many, I still wish there was more games like I listed. The excuse "Because it plays better with a controller" does not apply here. Only "The Last Remnant" thankfully brought to pc a game in the epic style of console rpgs. FF7 and FF8 were also ported to pc but as far as I heard, it was a bad job. Now where are games like those for my pc? You know, the ones you form a party, travel the world, get a transition into battle, fight epicly into turn-by-turn or action, continue to travel, meet with allies and enemies, save the world...? Don't say Half-Minute Hero, I am talking of real RPGs like we had on consoles. No, I am not talking of ports, just of the same style. Where are this genre I speak about...? They don't exist or barely and that's why they are not mentionned. Only Japan if anyone has them... Pretty sad, I must say...

Sera see RPG Maker http://rpgmaker.net/, there is a ton of communtiy games of RPGs on PC more than any console, you need to look outside the box. There is also new grounds that has a ton of community made RPGs. Like I said you are only looking at triple A titles and assuming that's the genre, that's not it at all.

I know that, that is why I stated it seems he is looking for TBS not RPG. So I listed some Sci-Fi TBS/RTS games.

Just to be clear, Hash. I don't... I know pretty well about RPG makers, I used it. What I mean is, why are there no more official games of this genre...? Not like indie or community made. As I said, the only official game I know which we can play as I described is The Last Remnant. Seriously, only this one...? I can understand the innovation and evolution of RPG style and all but jeez... For someone like me who doesn't like the "Gain stat and skill points to allocate" style of gaming, it's a real shame...
