With the DRM requirement of serial keys that would just effectively prevent renting in general right on the spot.
Edit: At least thats my POV on the subject.
LIKE I SAID, I would like a LEGITIMATE reason why PC gamers cant rent...
That and Piracy - I know you say Piracy is not a valid reason, but its IS probably the No.1 thing that pops up when you question Pc game rentals.
Silly really because I imagine Console discs can be copied too.
Legitmate reasons only please, not LEGITMENT, as that isn't even a word...
It is so easy to copy a computer game that anyone can do it. Besides, A console -can- have copied games. but because its programed only to read a specific format disk, you have to do a ♥♥♥♥ ton of work to play a copied game which is not quiet worth the effort..
Run after a time limit reached? Yes rather easy to fix up to keep going.
I imagine that, if you knew the programming language of the game, you could easily modify the game files to allow for infinite access.
Demos is what is needed.
Games these days (single player at least) are SO short that you can finish them within several hours and never need to play them again.
I also kind of miss the old days of the 'Shareware' games.
