Developer Subscription and other bits and bobs....
I would like to see an option for subscription to a developer.
For instance, Valve.
I could subscribe to Valve on Steam and everytime Valve release a new title it is automatically downloaded to my Steam Account. The developer could give subscribed customers lower prices or the game a week before it officially releases.
It would, I believe, be benifitial to both customer and developer. The developer would know in advance the minimum number of sales it will achieve in advance for their next title and the customer would not miss any releases from their favourite developers. If a bad title was released, you could end the susbscription immeadiately. You could have a setting so the developer doesnt release 10 sh@%ty games and put the customer in the poor house, maybe 3 or four games a year, whatever the customer wants. When the game is in yuour steam account you get an email saying 'Half Life 3 is now ready to play' etc.
I think this would also work brilliantly on a music download software were you subscribe to your favourite bands. I really hope Steam adds music, movies, books etc to its system in the future. It really should be your one stop shop for all entertainment as i find it the best delivery system for games and dont see why the service couldnt be extended into other forms of entertainment. Again it would be great for both customer and developer. The customer would be able to see that people playing portal are also listening to godspeed you black emperor, watching there will be blood and reading game of thrones or something. it would create a great community for customers and give the sellers great knowledge of their customers.
Just some thoughts.
Thanks

This is dangerous and niave concept.

Your system would effectively be giving the developers complete free reign to do whatever they like with your money without them providing evidence and promises for the work they intend to do.

This doesn't work in the real world, people need to provide evidence, ideas and have an overall plan for their business ventures before they recieve financial backing.
