A lot of people who are PC gamers care about the "competitive side" of achievements. I'd love to see a Steam gamerscore type of thing. That's why I use http://steamachievementhunters.com/
I support the idea of having a Steam Badge for acquiring all the achievements in a game.
There are a lot of PC Gamers who care about achievements, just like there are lots of console gamers who don't care about achievements.
to OP: I complete something about 15* games with all achievements. Believe me, this is a very bad idea about 100 % achievement in Badges section.
UPD: * Exactly 11 games.
Not wanting this and saying it's already there are two completely different things.
Games this is a games. Steam this is a Steam. Badges is a sort of achievements for Steam. Not for games, because games already have their own.
Personally, I'm much more in favour of this: http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/10/882959708451574151/
Now, if adding 100% are a step in the wrong direction, I feel that adding a numerical value to achievements would break them entirely. Especially if they were made mandatory (I very much doubt that Valve would ever do this though). You can't compare apples with oranges, so how can you assign achievements from a wide variety of genres with a common value? I remember I got some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ achievement on xbox worth 50 points for starting a new game, while the achievement for surviving 1,000,000 on Geometry Wars was worth 30. You can't assign a value and expect it remain consistent. Furthermore, assigning values would shift focus away from the achievements and onto the total values, or "gamerscore", which would lead to further problems. If you want to use some third party site, do that; but it is absolutley not true that it won't affect those who don't want it because it will ♥♥♥♥ the whole ecosystem up for everybody.
Having said all that, I want to stress that I'm actually a fan of achievements. But only if they're done right.
