They got no obligation to provide any free service. They can do so for some publicity, but there is no should and no must.
If you can't afford it, then I'm sorry on your behalf, but games aren't as expensive as you might think they are, you're just looking in the wrong place.
My friends bought me gran turismo 5, dirt 3, FFXIII, FFXIII2 and the first LBP for the PS3 as a gift recently, and all of that in total went for no more than 60 dollars in total.
If it would have been the PC equivelants, then it would have gone for even less. ¨
You just have to find good retailers and stop throwing away your money, perhaps try having at least 20 dollars to spare each month in case something you want comes up.
Quite often, a game will be released and nobody will buy it (for any number of reasons) so the sutdio ahs just pumped millions of dollars into nothing. Because of this, many studios try to develop multiple games at the same time to allow successful games to cover the cost of failed ones.
All of which means that if they do find a successful game (or franchise), they try and get money from it as long as possible - which isn't really a bad thing since every sale of the old game is helping to fund new ones.
Just my 2p
Well yeah, I meant Black Ops specifically. BLOPs is still Activisions best selling game in history, and one of the top selling games of all time.
Yes, god forbid Activision make games that millions of people enjoy and who have no issues what so ever paying the going price for their titles. What an evil jerk company! Someone please shut them down because what they are doing bothers me to no end.
