I remain confident that Steam will sort it out somehow and hopefully not ruin it á la Facebook-Timeline.
In my personal opinion, bold and italics would be alright but colours, fontfaces and different sizes? Argh! It'd be a mess. I already can't stand profiles covered with ASCII art.
Also, I remember a comment from Mike Blaszczak a while ago on the old forums about links. It was along the lines of "What could you possibly need more than three links for?", and I have to agree. Do you feel the need to link to that many other places...?
We don't need the ability to change text colour. It'd just look horrible and be abused.
Mocked it up. Yeah, looks kinda urgh: http://i.imgur.com/MaTYZ.png
The less we make it look like Myspace, the better.
Apolgies for dredging up such an old post but I wanted to search for the topic I was interested in before making a new thread and so I found it. I just wanted to pledge my support for this suggestion as I am a major fan of customisation: profiles, fonts, gear, looks, etc.
One of my favourite fonts to make posts in other social forums is Georgia in italics, it's easy to read and sleek-looking and it's simple and not too flowery and annoying like other fonts such as Comic Sans or the like. At any rate, I'm glad I found a thread for this, I hope that, at some point, the Steam devs will take a look at this and think it over.
