Big picture=Split Screen/Local Co-Op
Dear steam-admins.
I love the idea of big picture where you can play with your console/keyboard as it streams from your TV, and so, I think this idea might be a really great "thing" for the big picture.

As you know Xbox/PS3 has local co-op/splitscreen and the PC doesn't excactly support that type of gameplay. Of course I know the reason. Playing with only 1 keyboard and 1 mouse with your buddy, isn't excactly the most flawless thing you can do.

That's why I suggest you should take advantage of the big picture app. Because (As I understood it) the app was meant for the TV, and for playing with your Xbox or PS3 controller. So why not welcome the splitscreen to PC? This could be a great fetaure as I could play on my favorite console (Keyboard and mouse) and my friend could just bring his Xbox/PS3 controller instead of just watching me finnish this level on portal 2 alone..

I would love this as I'd get to use my killing machine (in condition to xbox/ps3) alot more, and
we (the community) could (notice the could) get better graphics and faster loading screens.

Splitscreen could go well with for example; Borderlands 2, Portal 2, Black Ops 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Splinter Cell Conviction and many many more.

This would also be a good start for the big picture app.

It's up to the developers of the games to add splitscreen support. Valve can't add Splitscreen support on games they didn't develop, I'm afraid.

I think now would be a good time to properly support splitscreen in Left 4 Dead 2 and Portal 2 on PC.

True, but Valve can do it with their games, which would awesome! I regularly play L4D2 with my sister in split-screen with two Xbox360 controllers, so being able to do this from the menu rather than hacking around in the console would be lovely.

Portal 2 PC supports splitscreen.

Plus, services like OnLive Also has splitscreen supporting seperate controllers.
It would be nice if Game Devs could consider.
I put together a website that lists about 150 PC games that have split-screen or some form of local multi-player/coop.

Here's the URL:

Valve sets the precedent. C'mon DEVS, do it!

I came here to start a similar thread and am now posting in this one. L4D2 would be great on the PC with split screen. Let's just need one device :).

You can actually play both L4D & L4D2 in split-screen on the PC. Just need to enter a few console commands (instructions are posted somewhere in the forums).
