Im not using a FullHD display to have almost 2/3s of it unused. ;-)
Actually, I think a good middle ground would be to make the sidebar collapsible.
Here's what it looks like when I remove the sidebar from the page and stretch the rest of the page to fit:

I actually kind of think that's a little too wide.
If they really read the forums like they say I don't think it takes too much time to post either:
-We're working on it.
-We're not working on it but we will.
-We will never make it.
As have I, and probably a few others. But all we can do is keep mentioning it, and if enough people complain then they might consider it a an issue worth solving.

Would be cool to see it in the Chrome Store, but I hope you know that they change money for publishing there (in case you didn't know).
It's not like everyone is using Chrome.
No, seriously, Firefox and Chrome extensions are very similar. After doing one, making the other should be easy.
