[SOLVED] Use HTML5 instead of Adobe Flash Player
Update:

This issue has been solved (read page 4), special thanks to FireSlash from Valve.

Original post:

It would be really cool if some functionalities of Steam did not need the Adobe Flash Player installed (like to watch the trailer of a game). If Valve chooses to adopt modern standards like HTML5 video, which would probably be easy to implement since you already use the webkit engine, Steam would advance technologically and the user experience would probably be better and easier to control since there is no more a crappy third party plugin involved.

I hope valve does this so I don't have to install a flash player every time I install steam.

I support this idea: at least would be good to let people choose between Flash Player videos and HTML5 ones :)

/signed. Adobe Flash is a pain in the neck because it often causes problems and has a high CPU usage. Valve, drop quickly Flash support in favour of HTML5 support, please!

Webkit already supports HTML5, I can't see why they're continue with flash.

Although flash SUPPORT should be kept, for the ingame overlay's browser.

I consider this inevitable anyway. Flash is either going to have to develop some new functions or die out.

Thing is, it doesn't have to be an either / or choice, you can do a HTML 5 player which falls back to using Flash if necessary. That way you can support everything, mobile, tablets, the Steam client if you haven't installed the right version of the Flash plugin...

Good point. As a short-term solution this is the right choice.
