Ne, ehrlich....kein Nerv mehr!
@KARR: That's bullcrap, what you write up there. The uncut software is not banned in our country. It is just censored, so kids can't buy them fully uncut. The uncut version of many games are sold to people over 18! But this software is not hold in the public showcases. It does work in many stores and it could work at steam, too!
Now look how it works at steam: They show the uncut screenshots and videos in their public showcase, which would be forbidden in germany, but they only sell the cut versions (which is not restricted by the laws, like many people - who don't understand this laws - say).
It is just bad comedy what happens here.

It is called EPOSTIdent. Made by the german mailservice DeutschePost and used by many companies in germany to sale software, movies and other stuff only to people over 18!
There is also a link for companies! The PostIdent Verification is the biggest and best reachable "Face-to-Face Age Verification" system there is in germany. You have to show your ID to get access to stuff for people over 18. After a verified person from the official mail service verifies your ID, you get the possibility to watch movies over 18, buy software over 18 and do other stuff online that need age verification. This system is completely supported by the law. So why does steam not make use of this system? Just do it already, please!
"Backstepper: I think its funny too! It’s already the last question, ‘Do you want to do anything about censorship and things like age-verification for countries that require it or want it like Germany or Australia’.
Newell: Are you saying will we be adding age verifications to address some countries concerns about censorship so that people who are above a certain age can then have access to unmodified content?
Backstepper: For example, yes.
Newell: Yeah, that would be a fine thing to add. We’ve got Torsten is like a huge fan of that internally and has been pushing to get that done. Torsten is persuasive and effective so I’m sure sooner or later we’ll get that out on Steam, and certainly our view as a content company is that there should be no restrictions on content. Of course that’s a pretty self-serving view; anything we can do to help our customers get access to the content they want, we’re going to figure out how to do."

You know, I'm seriously considering if a joint effort of German and Australian community members (and maybe sympathisers) would make a notable impression on Valve. Something like not buying ANY game on Steam for a specific period of time. It could be announced in an own thread, where everyone who wants to participate announces how much money he/she planned on spending for games in this period of time (eg. in a specific month) and that he/she would withhold it, until Valve seriously and convincingly states that they will implement an age verification system for people over 18 in Germany and Australia. Do you think enough people would join this effort? It could also be made public through other channels beside Steam (got buddies who run news-/review websites about PC- and console games who would definitely make such a campaign public, for example). What do you think?
I hope a staff member from Valve read this and can give us a reliable and satisfying answer.

Since then there was no further statements to this topic. The translation employee of the Steam -Crew, Torsten Zabka, was a fan of that topic. But there are no further informations since this interview. So I thought it would be time to give the staff of Valve a little kick in the ass and that is why I introduced them to PostIDENT. Since this system is working for most companies in germany and is full supported by the laws.
Now it is time for Valve to make the next step and introduce the PostIDENT system or a own version of an working and lawsupported age verification. Let's see, if anything happens in the near future.
Greets,
Wolve

Valve's customer service is one of their, if not the biggest, flaws..
I really don't understand this why 'Valve dont offer through Steam uncut content to their German customers. I realy haven't any clue. I look everday in the news section of Steam but no good news for us Germans. :((
I hope that this day will come, where I can buy uncut Games like Bulletstorm or Dead Rising in Steam.
Come on Valve we know you can do that!
its not just if you could buy the game its the way the internet is made in general vs german laws . its not just who can buy its what can be advertised . violent games in germany cant have reviews or comercials the vids and store page could be thought of as them and if you could buy the uncut games on steam valve would yet again be the target of a faction in germany that has decided it wants to make a big deal about something .
we have those people in america but they dont get far most of the time for instance games are considered protected speach here . the drive to remove violence from videogames prompted the supreme court to say the only way to do it would be to remove it from all entertainment which isnt going to happen so its protected like movies and tv
