Mapping Keyboard Keys to Gamepad for non native gamepad games
First of all I'd like to say, that I like the new „big picture“ function very much, it turns my PC connected to my TV almost into a gamingconsole.

But I have a little suggestion for improvement. It would be nice if there would be a way to map keyboard keys for specific games that don't have native controller support to controller buttons using different profiles for each game. It would also be nice if this profiles created by gamers could be available on an extra page to download.
Amnesia for example is a great game to play with a controller, but there is no native controller support for it. At the moment I play it using a software called JoyToKey but it would be nice if this could be done without this software. I have to start JoyToKey first, then select the profile which i created and after this I could start the big picture mode of Steam. If I want to play another game I have to switch back to the desktop change the profile of JoyToKey and switch back to Steam big picture. Switching back means I have to move from my couch to the PC do the changes and then go back to the couch.

Moving from couch to the PC is not a big deal but it destroys the feeling of a gamingconsole ;). Another benefit would be that people can save time creating the profiles by just downloading them from a source stored by Valve. It would be nice if the developers could add this feature to the Steam Plattform.

What your asking for exist to some extent. You can map key in game and it applies to that game just do it for each game. Steam's support section has some help on getting the correct drivers for a controller and getting both the x and y axis to work in game. I don't know how this relates to big picture.

That being said I like your idea. It would be great to see full controller support on pc games to be standard or at least easy for players to set up and share. Would also be nice to be able to customize each button even if using the game maker's layout. Though the only issue is some pc games require a larger number of keys than there are buttons on a typical controller, but if they only do "extra" non critical things then you can whittle down the number of buttons needed. Especially if you take the console approach to controls with one button click reloading and that same button held down puts you in a vehicle or something.

yes, I would like a setting page inside of Big Picture that shows a gamepad map and you can just assign the keys to each button. I have some games that can use gamepad but they don't.

You'll need to use an external program like Joy2Key, Or wait for the steam controller.
