Viewing your CD-Keys on the Steam Community (through browser)
Hello guys and ghouls, here's a little idea for you.
Being able to view your games CD-Key through a browser or mobile device.
I think this will help in many cases, but one big one could be if you need to register/add your game to that games respective website.
I think this would be aimed towards people who haven't got access to Steam at the time but require their CD-Key for any reason.
For example, I would like to download my DRM-Free version of Don't Starve, but I require my CD-Key so HumbleBundle can give me access to my download.

Just a thought, remember to think:p2blue:
:p2orange:with portals.
Have a good day.

I can't think of any reason why this wouldn't be possible, but I can't think of many instances where such a feature would be useful either.

It was hard to come up with reasons for this idea because of that.
There are reasons to use it, but it is also pointless at the same time.
I'm sure many people will have different uses for it.

Reason: I'm currently on Linux of my dualboot-laptop. Looking around on the EU4-forum of Paradox Interactive. Now I need my cd-key to register my game on the site...
This currently gives me the following options:
-Reboot into Windows, to open steam and get the cd-key
-Install Steam on Linux
But neither of those options is really worth the trouble.

Forcing to view the CD-Key only if you have the game installed is partly a security measure.
If i could freely see all my CD-Keys for games i haven't installed, a hijaccker could also do. Then use them on their behalf, and Steam could do nothing about it.

Arma2 players were attacked months ago by a cheat that stole the game Key, that key was later used by others to cheat on the game without a fear of a ban. Legit users were banned without doing anything.

You should have the access to the download page on the email you received when purchasing the game on their homepage (http://www.dontstarvegame.com/)

I mean for the games that you can see the CD-Key for. It would be nice if those CD-Keys were accessable if you're logged into your account, and viewing the games where you can actually see the CD-Key.

I purchased Don't Starve from Steam, so I recieved no email. On the Steam client, I can right click Don't Starve and view the CD-Key for it, but at the time of posting this, I was somewhere I couldn't access my client, but wanted to play Don't Starve. This post is hardly relevant now, but if you would like to still discuss it, by all means go ahead.
