Stop protecting scammers
http://kostyaburyakisathief.blogspot.com

As seen on this blog that i made related to the entire ordeal.
I was scammed for 2 highly valuable items with a name tag scam. Not only do i lose everything and lose my account, but now, i have to see that the scammer only has a "Trade status: Probation".

That's really nice and fair. I feel really good and protected. I lose 700$ worth of items and nothing happens to the thief. I can lose everything and the guy who takes it can still sell it off and doesn't even get banned for it. Thank you, Steam!

Please edit your trading guidelines into:

"Not only will we not give back scammed items, but the people that scam you will be protected by us."

Valve said "Do not hesitate to trade pay attention to the traders item as they may change it in the last second and end up scamming you" so yeah your fault for not paying attention to the items he said you will get when trade is complete

It's up to you to
A) Pay attention to the trade in question. Every time the trade changes in the Trade Window you have to re-accept the trade by clicking that Tick Box.
B) Follow the Steam Trading Policy.

If you've been "scammed" out of items, it's no-one's fault but your own.

I have never said that it is not my fault.

Trade status: Probation?

So he is basically free to cash in and to continue scamming in peace and that is fair?
People who do illegal stuff are not punished at all? Probation isn't a punishment. He can sell what he stole and he can still trade.

What does probation do to your account in Steam Trading?

Upon receiving a trade ban your account gets placed into probation as well. Probationary status allows other users to determine if a user has committed scams in the past so they can make better decisions about whether or not they want to trade with previous scammers. Probationary status does not prevent users from trading.

That being permanently on someones' account is quite a punishment, really. A whole heap of people would choose to never trade with someone who has the Probation mark on their account.

That is such a severe punishment. I don't think he will be able to sleep at night now. He could never move his items to a alternate account and cash in on 700$.

A new account from which he can cash in on stolen items is totally unheard of.

Define "protect scammers". If a scammer could get punished by someone calling him "scammer", the trade system could go down just right bucking now. Pay attention and everything's fine.
If someone steals/scams in real life.

If he goes to jail and items get returned that's great.
If he goes to jail for what he did, that's good.
If he doesn't go to jail but is forever stopped from going near the place where he stole from, that's at least somewhat fair.
If he gets called THIEF, but can continue stealing and can cash out on what he stole. That isn't that fair anymore.

Ok everyone calls him a thief, but he enjoys a lot of money. That's a tough life for him. Really hard

1) In Steam trading, you can CLEARLY SEE what you're about to get. You clearly saw what's there. You bought it. In real life, you ain't protected from buying clearly overpriced stuff. It's your choice.
2) How can you prove a scam? Like I said, if Valve would punish everyone who someone else calls a scammer, the trade system would go down right bucking now.

Did you even bother reading on the website?

If i give a Bmw and a Audi for a Lamborghini and i get a fake knock off asian Lamborghini, then i would get my things back if in the papers it said Lamborghini instead of "Asian crap that looks just like it". He would at least be reprimanded in a way other then being called THIEEEF.

And you're completely right, Valve didn't punish /me scams or other scams like that, even though they were more then obvious. Fake name tag trades are normal. I think they should even put in a badge "Do your first scam".

Why protect people who put money in and want to have a good time here when we can protect people who are here to try to fool people out of their items. The whole trade system would go bucking down if we did that.

Yes. You SAW what you bought and you bought it. While it's POSSIBLE that he had evil intentions, it's also possible that you willingly accepted the overpriced purchase to frame him later.
Imagine, I'll buy something from your. Overpriced. I'll ask you to sell me something worthless for too much. You'll agree (I mean, why not). I'll then ask Valve to get you banned for scamming. By your logic, you should be banned.

Besides, he didn't go unaffected.
It is not overpriced, it is something completely different.
If i want to buy a gold pen from you, i don't want to get a gold dusted pen because it looks just like it.

Yes i framed him, it is all a big conspiracy from me. I framed him into him putting a name tag on a cheap similar war dog. Also, there is a printscreen where it shows WHAT we agreed on trading. If you say that you should have gotten more, i would have the printscreens to prove that it was what you wanted. But if you tell me that i want this and you put a name tag on something that looks the same, that's scamming. I don't know why you even eat s.hit about that.

Trade probation is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. You're a fanboy with 648 games and try to find reason for actions. OK, i made the mistake, i shouldn't get the items back, fine by me. Him still being able to trade and actually use the items he stole, is actually unaffected.

He stole and he gets a thief tag, i'm sure that for getting 700$, he will be more the ok with that.

But how is any police force supposed to know? If I sell you a gold-dusted pen which clearly looks like it's gold-dusted, how are they supposed to know it's me who's evil and not you who try to frame me?
I'm not a fanboy, I just want to be safe in trading. Recently, I sold one crate for three weapons. IMHO it was overpriced, but not my problem. Now by your logic, I should get punished when he tells Valve. And I'm happy you're wrong. I want to be free to sell stuf overpriced if the traidng partner agrees.

You ride the superspecial du.mb bus to school, don't you?

There was a picture that shows what we agreed upon. I did not get what we agreed upon. He put a name tag on something to make it look the same. How could any police force know? Look at the printscreen/contract....

How can you compare overpriced items to name tag disguised items??

You get omg box for items, some boxes are really rare, oh so smart person. 3 weapons for a box seems overpriced to you, meanwhile he could have sold it for a full key or steam wallet money that overexceeds those 3 crap items that you are so overly proud of.

I feel really sorry for you and your limited horizons.

Technically, you did. You saw what you agreed to before clicking "Trade now". So you agreed. Take your bus someplace else.
You made a big mistake, buddy (I am assuming you don't try to frame him although there's no reason not to). Happens. No one, in real life, protects you from gifting loads of money to a stranger and to be honest, if someone would gift me tons of money, I'd accept.
Tell me how many times i have to explain until your silly little brain understands.

http://www.dota2.com/store/itemdetails/10009?appid=570 + a name tag

does not in any way shape or form equal this:

http://dota-trade.com/item=10033

It is worth 500 or more times more.

First item = over 100000 items like that
Second = 130 items.

If i walk up to you and say i wanna give you money that is on me. If i walk up to you and i say that i want to buy one thing and you paint something to look like i wanted, you basically steal.

I know your simple brain can't comprehend it, but trying reading it several times over maybe you will get it.
