Go and play TF2 and get achivements, Valve put 'fireworks' sounds on for that game. If a game maker chooses not to use a sound, thats up to them.
It also detracts from some games 'atmosphere'.
It is not excuse, all PS3/Xbox games achievements has sounds, and they can put a simple option on the config to turn off the sound.
No it's not. I was just saying that the option is there to be used, its just publishers CHOOSE not to use it and was offering a reason why they may choose not to.
If this ever comes a reality on steam, make this option mandatory.
Not all of us are achevement "hunters".
It's like in Halo: Combat Evolved (2004) where it's so cool because the game just goes
"Checkpoint...saved"
silently
