Audio option => Output sound devices ! Please add this to steam
Hi everyone.

I want to change the audio output of CS:GO, and only cs go ! In the game's options would be so nice...
But there is no option to change audio peripherals. Please don't talk me about the windows audio mixer, or realtek advanced options.. because that's not the solution i m looking for. :/
Does someone got a solution ? Or it really is impossible ? A console's command maybe ?

Please help me ! (in as basic english as possible plz :x i'm french)

(windows 7)

You mean you want a specific game to output audio to a different device? I looked into this before when I needed something similar and found that there are 3rd-party software solutions for it but nothing free so I gave up with it.
yeah i found this solution too but i don't want to pay for something witch is so simply (i guess it's not difficult for valve to add this fonction in their games or in steam). The only audio fonction on steam is for changing voice properties.. i'm looking for a solution every days x)
It's not simple and it's not something for Valve to implement, it's just the way Windows works.
hmm I think it's an easy answer to make windows guilty of that. I play other games witch got this option. independant from windows.. So why valve can't do this ?? i think they can do it. :x
(sorry for my english)
Well.. Sure it's not easy. But i m sure they're abble to do this
Planetside 2 does it perfectly. I don't see why valve couldn't figure it out. Seems like a pretty easy tweak to me.
I do with Indie Volume by GerixSoft it work well.
+1 on that request

Tactical Intervention uses the Source engine under the hood and allows you to change the output device. If they can modify (if they even had to) the engine to allow different output devices, Valve should be able to do the same.
This is a feature I would love to see implemented. Windows 7 x64 simply doesn't have a good solution atm as far as I can see. (No, Indie Volume is only for 32 bit, so it's not a viable solution at this time). Some of the better Games out there supports assigning other sound devices than the default sound device. Neither steam or Microsoft Silverlight supports this propperly. Some Media Players (like KMPlayer) does support it.

ACtually not true, valve has already done it in DotA for example, no idea why it doesn't work in CS actually ~_~
I've got a solution that might work.
1. Go to windows playback devices
2. then set headphones as default audio device
3. start CS:GO (or any other program)
4. Alt+Tab
5. change your default audio device back to speakers or w/e
- any other program you run from now, will use speakers as audio output, but CS:GO will keep using heaphones untill you restart it.

Thats the long way, and would have to be done every time you boot the game. This post is looking for an easier method of doing this.

Are there any or the boot configurations that could do something like this?
Well that way no longer works.. at least it didn't for me anymore in windows 8.1
If you want that solution to work the short way, you'll probably have to download or write a program for it ;)
I do with Indie Volume by GerixSoft it work well for counterstrike. Some programs bug.
I know this is somewhat of an old post but I like to do this in dota, the best way I've found to do something like this is to download foobar, its a player that lets you direct music to certain outputs. Pretty clutch, not sure if its what you're looking for but at least its another option that doesn't use some crazy audio emulation and its FREE!
