STEAM 2014 Requested Functional Updates By Community
This used to be a place of civil suggestions and conversation. There has been way too much arguing about ideas and at each other that it has made me sick. So like most things that get ruined, all good things must eventually come to an end. Thanks to all that contributed and helped shape Steam into what it is today.

Checkbox for game categories.. if im looking for an AAA action game f.ex i would love to be able to "uncheck" indie and RPG tag, or if i want to find a good action rpg i can check those and narow down my search.. now its just impossible to find something since more or less all game ar tagged as action adventure.. and RPG for some reason..
First off, thank you for the great product you have provided us gamers over the years! There is one gripe I do have about the UI functionality while browsing games in the store. Once a game is selected and the landing page read, pressing the back button returns you to the previous page but re-sets the game list position to the top. Though minor this would releave alot of headaches.

Awesome job guys keep it up!

Same thing happens with pages (of a thread) on this forum (through steam).
It appears to at least want to jump back to where you were, but seems random which jump comes last.

Add Market Showcase? (should update if sold)

:wizard: Wishing for a Market Showcase as well. This would be a nice feature and would help traders. When you say "update if sold", most likely the item would just disappear from the slot and leave the slot blank, just like it is currently with other item showcases.

Preloading games - currently you can only preload to your main Steam drive. It'd be good if you could tell Steam which of your download folders to preload into like you can when you install a game, especially for those cases where your main Steam drive has filled up, in which case you are effectively unable to preload.

Can we please have the choice as to which drive we can preload pre ordered games. I don't want my games on my C drive, thanks.

Edit; I see I'm not the only one. :)

I have some major conflict between Steam and UPlay. I don't know if there is anyway that this software relationship could be improved, but there definietely seems to be some issues on mid level systems. Heros 6 only boots up a quarter of the time after crashing a couple times. Farcry 3 was okay, but I had a few issues there as well. What I'm getting at is, can we limit the extraneous applications running in the background for some of these games?

Speed when browsing or just using Steam in general is problem, I feel.
Also that damn "Steam is updating" thing when I turn on my PC.

Steam Updates are a huge problem sometimes, it takes forever to download and sometimes they download while you're playing ONLINE which really pisses me off, there should be a temporary stop to that, like pause for 15-30mins cuz if you could just pause it indefinately people wouldn't update

i dont know if its been suggested and i know its dumb but with the library filtering i'd like the ability to check off games ive completed and filter them out so i only see games i havent touched.
I did not read through the entire post so this may be a repeat, but I would really like the ability to continue a download while playing a game whithout having to alt-tab. Some games do not gracefully recover from app switch. Perhaps an option in steam shift-tab to resume download. Maybe even a setting in options for people with SSD and faster computers to that does not suspend downloads when starting a game.
Low priority, but it would be nice.
