achievement 'toast' suddenly turned on by default?

Hello,
I was playing my game and suddenly this thing appeared. I was not expecting this as I have this type of thing switched off by default. I did not switch this thing on. Is this a new feature that was switched on by default?
I have a form of adhd and do not deal well with unexpected distractions. This really ruined my play session and stressed me out.
please do not do this, if it was due to an update. If this is a bug, please could you check on it to ensure it doesn't happen again?
