Game transfer feature from other launchers
A feature that allows you to transfer games that you already own from other launchers. For example, if someone had GTA V, they could transfer it from the Rockstar Launcher if thats where they own it to their Steam library.

you add the game as a NON steam game. you cannot transfer the game from rockstar to steam.

You'd have to ask the developer for such a feature. Steam can't give out licenses to games they don't own. Some stores in the past tried such a feature but quickly stopped doing so as its very easy to exploit.

I know that, but it does not appear as an actual game. I'd like to view game time, achievements, etc. Basically viewing it as a regular game that I would see on steam.

Also Brian, I'm speaking in reference to games that Steam has access to such as GTA V and RDR2.

Yeah that's not how that woprks. I mean you're free to ASK the dev/pub for a free steam key but...don't be surprised if they say no.

Just because steam sells the games doesn't mean they can hand out licenses. It would be up to the developer. For instance Bethesda gave users who owned Fallout games on their launcher free copies of the game on Steam when they decided to shut down their launcher.

Developers have the ability to do so, Steam however cannot do it as it would be illegal.

I see, thanks for the insightful information, I guess I should bring this up with the specific developer(s).

keep in mind you have basically no chance in hell of them agreeing to it but you are free to ask

This is true. Achievements, playtime, etc. Are effectively part of the selling point to buy on Steam, alongside the card drops.

So Steam themselves aren't going to just give free game keys away, just because you own it elsewhere. Why should they, y'know?
