Suggestion- Have Valve be more transparent on "undercover" Moderators...
We know they exist. There have been times, i was "warned" by a poster, and within 30 seconds, my comment gone, and banned.

On two other occasions, with the same poster, the thread locked after he requested, and another, i was willing to take the hit Father Day Weekend, told him where to shove his threats, and the comment gone within one minute.

Here's the thing. I have NO issue Valve having folks incognito, monitoring our forums.

Given this situation, they need to do it....

https://www.gao.gov/products/gao-24-106262

If you're going to "share" information with our government, they need information to share. And you can't do that being "reactive" on reports. There does need to be proactivity on Steams part.

However that proactivity, is to keep our communities "safe". Not to push Valves bottom lines, or just because they came out the losing end of an argument.

"Disagreeing" is not a bannable offense.

I think it would help our community, to know exactly "who" and "may" be posting with us.

This dragnet Mr Newell and Steam are conducting, is not working, but bringing upon uncertainty, in who is exactly moderating our forums.

I understand it is not our "right" to know how they go about their business (it's really not), but i think more transparency, would bring about more understanding.

I thank Steam, Valve and Mr Newell foir the fun they bring us, and thank them for giving me this opportunity. And will not partake in this matter, being it is my suggestion, and only mine.

Others can disagree.

EDIT- This has apparently become worse than i even thought, in that moderation, particularly at the Hubs, may be sharing our information, even with non support members. Meaning, posters.

At the same time, i got a "friend request" from someone, who clearly does not share my best interests.

PLEASE, be careful with Support, Game Hub moderators, and others who MAY just as well not be vetted.

This has become worse than just "undercover moderators", but those who may be getting our information from mal contents, at moderation.

Happy gaming all :steamhappy:

I've seen pictures of lizard people, they have been posted online so you would need ot provide evidence they don't exist and the photos are fake to disprove that claim, and there is no evidence to why there would be undercover moderators, just the OP sadly saying why he THINKS without evidence it exists. Thinking something exists is not evidence, and the OP has already demonstrated he is confused thinking the GAO report he routinely refuses to read past the title has anything to do with day to day moderation.

Even if the FBI was involved in steam they'd not be acting as undercover moderators unless the OP was a suspected terrorist. Although I guess it is possible he has supplied money to terrorist organizations and gotten on a watchlist. He might not have realized it or fell for a scam for instance.

There is also no evidence to show the OP is not being paid to spread the rumors so per your logic that has to be discussed as the OP has not disproven it. It is entirely possible and there is evidence to support it that he could be a paid influencer trying to disrupt steam.

There is no conversation, there is one user making unsubstantiated claims who has failed to provide any evidence just like all his other claims in the past.

Oh, i'm clearly sorry if you thought i was implying "the FBI has undercover moderators". That of course would make no sense.

But the fact, the Moderation Team may put incognito moderators out here with us, should not at all be something people should think is conspiratorial and whacky.

Anyhow, i hope that clears it up, and if not, i understand.
Given your repeated advertisements for competing platforms over the past year and a half or more, if there were any "shadow moderators" here. They'd have enough to permanently show you the door by now.

They don't want to permanently show us the door. There would be no reason, when all they have to do is harass and make examples.

Not to mention, we're rock stars on Steam, and without us, there would be no activity on these fora.

Enjoy the conversations, along with the popcorn lol..

By conversations you mean blatant attempts at spreading misinformation whilst abusing the report button so you feel you've accomplished something in retirement.

There is no evidence to support that. So I can easily claim that moderation is actually done by aliens from the alpha centauri system and have just as much proof as the claim you make.... aka no proof at all

They'd have a perfectly good reason.

Poor customer, poor attitude, lies galore, attacking other members, spreading fallacies and conspiracy theories to try and start conflict... Etc etc etc..

The list is vast.

I don't think you get how much of a waste of time that would be.

They hire people to do the Moderation task. Then out of nowhere ask some of them to "Go undercover in the normal forum section talking with people without breaking the rules." because of?

We Volunteer could mingle with people because we volunteered for it. The current team is a paid team and they are paid to do a job.

Wasting their time on chatting on the forum? For what? Humoring the few conspiracy theory spread by a couple of users?

There where plenty of times when I banned people that though I stalked them because I had issued the last 2 bans or so. I didn't, I just did the reports. At the time I didn't even remember banning the people.

"Their intent is to harass and upset users." Is usually the reply you'll get, from the whole "there's shadow mods" conspiracy crew.

However if that were true, it'd be more effective to just ban the 'victims", wait for them to make a new account to complain about moderation/bans, then ban those accounts too.

We've already seen verified proof of willingness to make new accounts to get around/avoid bans, OP themself has two accounts in this very topic.

So there's already a willingness to continue, if I were a moderator, who wanted to troll/upset users who break ToS, with known histories of using secondary accounts.

I'd just ban them, wait for them to get tilted enough to come back on the alt account, ban that, and watch them increasingly get upset.

It's mainly neat to see people announce they're just here to troll. Or be as they call themselves: "rockstars".

Just shows that they're here in bad faith to begin with...

The KING, has arrived to read the responses, and thank all for them, as well as the awards.

It is obvious we have a moderation issue, from those on Valve, lurking our fora as regular posters.

Lets keep those responses coming.

Mr Newell, lets be more transparent, and work together to keep us all SAFE :steamhappy:

As long as we're posting conspiracies, I'd like to submit that those who keep talking about shadow moderation are actually Russian/Chinese troll farms hired by x-box to cause discourse on the forums with bad faith suggestions.

Noble point. How is moderation tending those issues? Perhaps i'll start a thread on that.

Maybe moderation should be spending time lurking our forums to find bot farms and the like, but instead, spend their time on silliness.

Great point. Next week i'l see if we can go into that.

Well one especially who claims to be enjoying his retirement, by living and breathing on the forums across multiple accounts. Is still here. Their practices are pretty lax. I agree, they should tighten up how they handle the troll farms.

In fact if I were the "successful lawyer daughter" of one such individual, who lives and breathes the steam forums just to lie, antagonize, and spread misinformation. I'd be ashamed.

We had one poster claim he was a lawyer, ceo, game developer, cop, and artist, whilst spending all of his time, here telling others how to follow our rules

Therefore i agree. We should be looking into these matters. But one subject at a time i suppose.

Have a great day.

I mean no different than a habitual liar who doesn't know what law articles do, and just goes on about them regardless, whilst claiming to be an ex-cop therefor "is an expert on law".

One of which who, self admittedly, can't afford a new PC but then doubled back and said "money is no issue" in their household.

One I've affectionately come to start calling Pinocchio.
