Improve granularity of games privacy
Good evening.

I would like to request a feature on Steam that increases the granularity of what I can enable or disable in the privacy settings.

Currently, Steam either allows other players to see everything related to my games, or nothing at all (I chose the second option).

My suggestion is to allow people to see my achievements, game library, etc. However, they shouldn't be able to see "WHEN" I'm playing.
This privacy option is the first one that appears related to your games in your account settings.

I imagine this functionality is easy to implement, because it is essentially not a new functionality, but rather a separation of existing ones.

If this feature already exists, I'd appreciate it if you could show it to me, because I've searched several forums, the internet, and the help system, and haven't been able to find exactly how to do what I described above.
*Also, after searching in several places, I've noticed that there are more players like me who would like to share "WHAT" they're playing with their friends, but not "WHEN" they're playing (this gives the impression that "they're monitoring you...").

Thank you very much!

*Note: I'm not fluent in English, but I imagine the text is understandable.

I don’t know if this option is available outside of Steam Deck, and I also (like you) have…well, most things hidden-but on Steam Deck there are two options I THINK might work for this: the first is “Signed out” described as “Sign out of Friends & Chat” and another called “Invisible” described as “Appear offline, but you can still chat.”

If these are available on PC, I’d think either SHOULD accomplish what you want. Theoretically, if you’re “Signed out” or “Invisible,” your friends shouldn’t see when you’re playing. But since I’ve never tried it myself (my library and wishlist are 100% private from everyone but me), I can’t 100% confirm this.

Interesting, I'll try these options and see if it works. Thanks a lot!

I tested it with my friend, and indeed, if you become invisible, Steam doesn't notify everyone what you're currently playing (even with your public profile).

This is a good action until Steam officially implements this feature in the settings.

Thank you both so much!
