Possibility of Rumble support?
Because supporting the one video platform and absolutely nothing else is woefully inadequate if the past three years have anything to say, and even if you could sign into Youtube through Steam, Youtube as a video service is becoming increasingly anti-consumer.

It would make things a little more interesting. YT's practices have become increasingly awful, and from direct testing I see a huge view-based performance difference in favor of Rumble compared to YT.

Once they finally drop support for the older OSs, they can finally update their Chromium version to be in line with the new security policy Google put into place that is currently preventing you from using Steam with YouTube in the client.

Yeah, and if multiple video platforms were supported, YouTube not working would not have been an issue cuz we'd just use the alternative if the one platform isn't working. I still say that the current situation with video embedding shows how woefully inadequate it is to only support one platform. I don't think we should defend inadequacy.

Twitter support could also work for shorter clips via video tweets

Twitter is a cesspool these days. And YT shorts don't even work here.

Sure wish you could upload Vimeo to a game's Steam Community Hub.

It's significantly better since the new ownership, not to mention monetization features are being implemented.

Some more support for other platforms would be nice so long as the platforms verify the material is safe for embedding etc.

Not going to happen, it's catered to content that violates multiple Steam Community rules.

Change the Shorts URL to a watch?v= URL and it should work. Shorts is just a modified player.

The materials on Rumble are not safe for the Steam Community however.

Most of the material on YouTube isn't safe either. So that shouldn't be a factor in whether Steam supports playback from those videos.

Plenty of yt content is not acceptable nor safe for the Steam Community as well.

Most of that content you are suggesting violates their TOS. False equivalent to compare a general audience video sharing site with a far-right conspiracy theory site.

Rumble and YouTube's ToS are very similar. So it isn't a false equivalence.

I didn't suggest any content, simply agreed with the OP. That doesn't point to any specific kind of content. Labeling things as a "far right conspiracy theory site" doesn't seem accurate, nor relevant or constructive to the subject. Not liking something doesn't automatically put it into a category of people or politics that an individual does not particularly like. That's a bad faith move.

It's also a lie.

Going to the front page you can see similar content to YouTube just categorized. The only difference is the political spin put on the 'Politics' section.

It also isn't spammed with corporate clips from talk shows.
