No there is no need for one. All the same general forum rules will apply to that section along with every other section. So there is no reason for an adult section, its not like they could keep the kids out, there is no way to ID who is sitting behind the keyboard at the time.

There must be some groups focused on discussing/recommending adult games. Try the group search function. For example, I've found this:

Yeah, there are some, but I don't want to be in groups with people, just a general overall broad discussion of the games in general.

Public forum, you could have just ignored what I said if you didn't like the answer.

Again there is ZERO need for an adult only section. Valve has no way to actually verify anyone is an adult, and no way to know who is sitting behind the keyboard at the time.

They also very clearly do not want that kind of discussion on the forums or else they would not have rules against what would be adult material.

If you think it would only be a place that adults could go with no pesky kids around, as mentioned, no actual way to verify who is an adult and who isn't. Valve doesn't have any access to any government database to verify an ID. Also sending your idea over the internet is a very good way to have ID theft happen.

So why do you want an adult section? Why not just make a group, make it private and only invite people you know to be adults?

Why are people thinking that Valve has no way to verify if someone is an adult when they clearly sell adult games? I swear this forums is filled with flamers.

Why? Because there is no actual verification that someone is an adult when they purchase an adult game on Steam. And no, I don't count the age gates or putting a checkmark in the preferences page (for AO content) as age verification.

Secondly every game already has it's own forum including Adult Only games.

Because Valve cannot see who is on the keyboard and irresponsible parents do not use the parental controls provided in Steam, nor monitor what their children do while on their PC.
