There should be an optional tip jar for Indie games
I'm talking about for small Indie games mostly it would be a neat idea and a good way to support your favorite developers ^_^

This would be neat, and I would support it. Also for Workshop mods and the like.

I can't wait for EA to claim indie developer sub studio status!

This could open up the door of studies taking 'tips' and sending out copies of the game to bypass Steam's fee.

If you want to tip and indie studio, ask them if they have a paypal or some other donation method.

Good point. It's important to consider how any new feature might enable abuse.

Nah I don't think so. Some devs are using DLC as donation tiers anyways. That's why I was thinking instead of doing that mind as well make a cool tip jar.

What devs are using DLC as a donation?

There are quite a few, just search things like "donation" or "buy my a coffee" in the store. Some of them may include a few small things like a few development screenshots or so, but without reaching the levels of what would be considered actual soundtrack/artbook dlcs.

Mind as well add a tip jar. I think it would be a nice addition some devs really deserve it. I mean, if streamers are able to do it for simply playing their game a developer surely should get the same treatment.

They could easily do that if they so wish to do so right now, with donation DLC. For real, on god, no cap.

Deep Rock actually sells something as the supporter DLC. I was wondering ones that are literally just tips.

Yeah the one I posted and what the other person posted were literally straight up donation DLC. Supporter DLC don't really count since you're getting something back in return.

As mentioned, developers can already do it, by adding DLC with nothing in it. No Valve won't take in "charity" or "donations" for them because for them it would be a HUGE accounting mess to deal with.

If you want to donate money to them, ask them if they have somewhere that you can just give them money, or buy the game a few times for friends that want it.

Lol I disagree I don't think it would be a "HUGE accounting mess"..

It's to support the Dev, so it counts. Other games will also give you something if you Donate to them, it's nothing new whatsoever, and it's almost always cosmetic stuff like Supporter packs.

They're just being nice by giving something for supporting their development rather than nothing, which is a choice to do.
