Sell Steam to Microsoft.
While Valve has stagnated and stopped making good games, Microsoft has been killing it recently.

Instead of chasing that easy and lazy lootbox money, Microsoft are focused of making bigger and better games, constantly improving existing ones and increasing the value their ecosystem offers to the player.

In contrast, Valve currently operates much like a headless chicken, without a clear vision or goals, and it shows.

Bugs that could be easily fixed take forever to fix because developers at Valve can simply choose what they want to do so nobody wants to work on the "boring stuff". Remember the back button bug?

Even worse, all the money Valve is making isn't being invested into creating great games the way other platform holders do with their profits. CD Projekt delivered us The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. Epic utterly outplays Steam in the live service front as Fortnite becomes almost a completely new game every season in addition actively developing new game modes, and don't even get me started on Sony and Nintendo whose contributions to videogame history are still unmatched to this day, although Microsoft is catching up.

Valve is the only platform that doesn't take it's profits and use them to contribute more great games to videogame history. Instead we get stickers and clown rewards and skins of artificial rarity that only the remarkably lucky or absurdly wealthy will be able to acquire.

It would also be great for gamers if the next Steam Deck ran on windows. Stop trying to make linux happen, it's never gonna happen. Windows is synonymous with PC gaming.

Valve has already contributed all it had to contribute to Videogame history. Time to let someone better take the wheel. Someone who still sees games as an art form, not just a business.

I kindly disagree. While it's a shame Valve isn't pumping out new games, Steam as a platform is by far the most enjoyable platform to experience playing games and sharing gaming with friends and loved ones, there is simply so much Steam as a platform offers me as a user to facilitate my gaming experience the way I want to as oppose to how they want me to experience it.

I recently purchased a Steam Deck and it's truly remarkable how that device has increased the value of my library of games, my ability to experience playing those games, and even my own PC as I'm using my PC for gaming more than ever since getting a Steam Deck (Steam Cloud is amazing). The fact Steam has forums like this built directly into the platform opening up channels of communication for Steam community members is something unique to Steam and is only here because of Valve, PS and Xbox unfortunately lack any such means of community engagement directly through their respective platforms, and this is not even mentioning things like the Steam Workshop and community created content being available directly through Steams platform.

Steam is by far the most open and flexible platform for gaming and this freedom and flexibility would sadly be lost if a corporation like Microsoft were to take over.

Eventually, it's either gonna be Microsoft or Elon Musk.

I'd be happy with both.
Kinda hard for me to imagine that if I'm honest. Is Elon even into gaming?

Yes.

I up the ante: Valve should buy Microsoft.

Thats far more likely then Microsoft buying htem as Phil Spencer has been talking about the numerous issues Microsoft is having with its game division.

Sorry OP, it was just announced Microsoft is getting investigated by the FTC again, so they aren't in any position for quite a while. They are too busy dealing with their 100+ active lawsuits, failing game division, etc.

However EPIC might buy Microsoft gaming studios from what i've been hearing

By closing game studios.

Have you notice how large swathes of PC gamers outright refuse to buy a PC game until it comes to Steam? This is the reason. Steam already operates as a de facto monopoly in the space due to this.

Known as consumer choice

Yeah, gamepass was a mistake.
But they still do more than Valve.
Have you seen the new doom trailer?
Much better than that non-existing Half-Life 3 trailer, right?

And?
I mean. Valve have no interest in making HL3 at this point.
But its amazing how quickly one forgets that trailers are poor metrics. A trailer has to look/be entertaining for only a minute. Easy for a game to lkook fun for a minute.. whet6her that game remains fun after 6 hours is another story.
Xbox/Microsoft, the company that buys out studios then shuts them down or guts them? Pass.
Black Ops 6 being on Game Pass has made Activision slightly increase the price of the game again to 80 Euros. This is after the last 2 games, MWII and MWIII raised the price to 70 Euros from 60 Euros for the previous titles.

And the fact that most regions are higher than the suggested pricing Valve has for BO6 pushes more people to Game Pass for a cheaper alternative to rent their game instead.

Price in the US is the normal $70.

Fun times.

80 dollars for COD6 looks like a steal compared to 80 dollar CSGO skins.

Difference is, CS2 is free or $15 for Prime that comes with free drops that pay for itself plus more. Like I sold tons of cases this week and did this...

No, Microsoft is being sued for considerably more at the moment with over 100 lawsuits pending against them, not to mention them being investigated by the FTC now.

They also have a current lawsuit where Microsoft is being sued for BILLIONS of dollars. So if your going to try to use the amount of a lawsuit as a zing against steam your going to fail horribly as Microsoft is being sued for WAAAAYY more
