4K Profile Backgrounds

Hi i am using an 4k Monitor and all background looks so terrible.
I added an Developer on Steam to ask him to change his Background from his Game to 4k and he told me, he is not allowed to change it since he uploaded it.
Could you please change that or upscale all with https://imgupscaler.com/ ?
I doesnt look good on a 4k monitor. :(

If it is something that they can not assist you with, Account and Billing issues only, they will tell you to go to the forums in a copy/paste response.

Your current background also doesn't look so great in 1080p.

The background itself is great, I do like it, but it seems there is a compresison problem. It looks like the background was made in 480p, and then just upscaled to 1080p. I'm not sure if the creators did that, or just exported with a huge compression.

Either way, this isn't the only background which looks quite good, if it wasn't that blurry. It also has a rather overpowered vignette effect, which is unfortunate.

My Question was to higher the Cap so all Steam Profiles doesnt look like a Movie from 1890.

Thats why they should change that.
It's no longer appropriate to see something on the internet in such a resolution, especially for someone like Steam.

4k background is a great feature request, but it is not really going to help with your problem, when the creators messed something up.

Even if steam allowed 8k backgrounds, they could still look blurry or low quality.

Steam should setup a 'creators corner' for Steam profiles that like the 'Steam Workshop' has free/payed/ custom content for Steam profiles. As a digital artist myself I could release very nice custom 4K backgrounds that would be suited for Steam.

They only should not make it so that everyone just can publish artwork to the 'profile workshop' otherwise it will be a mess. There should be a way for creators/artists to apply for publishing 'profile art' to the 'profile workshop' and after careful review the art/content should be accepted or not.

Really? I think there are plenty of great new stuff in the points shop for profile customization: Animated backgrounds, avatar frames, stickers, extra showcases...

Nice, a Points Shop full of pixelated Backgrounds.
The mini profiles are most of the time in the blurry part instate of the non blurry part.
The animated backgrounds are pixelated too.
The avatars and avatar frames are the only thing that i would say its quite okay/good.

Most of the stickers are useless and has no point of using them in a Chat.
When i text on Steam, then just quick stuff.
Extra Showcases are okay.

Huh? The points shop was one of the best customization options that happened to steam. The artist profiles and special profiles are outstanding. You can even achieve partial transparency with the combination of certain themes, it can't really cannot get any better than that.

There are many great animated backgrounds, some of them are part of special profiles, some can be purchased individually. Not all backgrounds are pixelated, maybe it's your monitor?

bro its not pixelated for you because u probably have a standard 1080p monitor but for guys like me with a 4k monitor the background is just too low of a resolution and they just upscale it if u set it to full screen cuz original size is so small its way more ugly
