Stop the "Waiting for network" screen on startup
It's really annoying because I load the web browser and am about to type something or select a tab that I already have open and this window appears and stays there for about 10 seconds before closing.

It never used to do this so why is it not possible to stop it from appearing?

I've tried adding a parameter -silent but that has made no difference whatsoever.

I preferred the previous version if I'm honest. It worked really well for me without any issues at all.

It seems that my shouting may have actually done something. Instead of that window, when I started my laptop just now, it showed a quick small window notification that lasted maybe a second then just disappeared, which is perfectly acceptable to me now.

THANK YOU DEVS (if you've done this I mean). :D
I still get the "Waiting for network" message. It's so annoying I had to disable steam from autostart :(((
I effectively removed that splash screen when I made the batch file to fix the start Steam on system startup issue.
I retract my previous statement. When I restarted the laptop, it shows the screen still so DEVS, FIX THIS ANNOYING THING PLEASE!!!!!

Wynters I tried something similar but it didn't work. :(
Please get rid of this, it's intrusive, unnecessary, and just plain wrong, since my network is connected when this message displays. Either get rid of it or make the "-silent" startup command line option get rid of it.

+1 in both threads that came up when I initially searched for this
Well from my part, Steam wont start on startup untill they sort it out. If antivirus has the option to start without annoying splash screen on startup, every app has to have the option.

I even tried to use beta for Steam and it didnt help yet

Well I finally disabled starting steam with windows as you said........Two of the games I play don't require steam to play......since it's been JUNE and this has not been addressed for the rest of the games I bought through steam they are older and not that expensive to buy again......may have to consider an alternative.
This new splash screen is so annoying... it's slow (waiting for network), steals the focus and doesn't add any benefit. I tried some community suggestions (shortcut parameters, windows registry tweak), but they didn't work. Please remove this startup screen!

I and many others are so annoyed with this. The DEVS need to do something about it soon. Even if it's a toggle that you can have it on or off would be good.
+1 on this -- this splash screen destroys the user experience
Ive been sitting here thinking it was my pc or my home internet connection this whole time, stumbled upon this thread today and i agree please do something about this, It is quite bothersome that my entire pc is loaded im working in my normal internet browser and chatting in discord and still stuck with this waiting for connection screen from steam. Hate to see people leave a platform just because the dev team wont address an issue but sometimes to get things fixed it has to hurt them in their pocket.
There is a quick way to close the window, by tapping on the window on the taskbar as it loads but that's not a solution, DEVS please will you fix this once and for all?
I agree so I adjusted a workaround,
When I start my FSX X I di it via cmd script anyway, so I added some code up front to see if STEAM already running and if it is WHALAH no splash screen.
Only 1 long start of steam per dsy after system is turned on
works for me anyway...

tasklist /fi "ImageName eq steam.exe" /fo csv 2>NUL | find /I "steam.exe">NUL
if "%ERRORLEVEL%"=="0" goto :steamisrunning

:steamisnotrunning

start "" C:\Steam\steam.exe -nochatui -nofriendsui -silent

timeout 30
:steamisrunning
echo Program is running
