I agree. They should have spent their time instead on figuring out how we can sort our libraries between multi-player and solo only games so we can easily find stuff when we want to play with friends. (I know there is a way but it's janky because of category boxes still being checked and solo/multi still mixed together under favorites section instead of listed separately within it.)

Yes. ♥♥♥♥♥♥ update that removed useful features.
Why the ♥♥♥♥ can't they just make an option to keep the old one?
Why do they force their downgrades on us?

Yeah it seams with every UI update for all company they make things bigger, waste space remove features (skins), hide features from users, Its getting to the point where steam is just a glorified web browser with custom bookmarks and nothing more.

Seriously. The old ui was good, this new one looks ugly and is much harder to navigate.

I could see them replacing older framework code with something new, in preparation for making major changes to how things work, but they never seem to communicate that intent. Instead, the changes (and resulting bugs) rolled out for this update have the hallmarks of people whose job performance is being graded using "metrics",

Viewing notifications is a joke, and why does it not minimize to system tray like it used to when launching a game, and why does it take 10 seconds to shut down now.

Valve actually removed empty space on the top on this UI update. Why haven't you noticed that?

Steam has been had the same layout for nearly 10 years by now or so. With just some UI updates that modify the look.

What features where hidden from users?

Boomers overreacting. I like the new UI update it has a lot of amazing features. If there are some features missing try to instead of complaining suggest some kind of change. Like what you want to add and stuff like that but type it in a way that monkey can understand it because people at Valve do not have all the time in the world to try and understand your horribly writen and structurized suggestion.

i like the concept of the new update in theory , being able to customize the overlay stuff is handy in theory but the way they went about it was very clunky . as for the library if i go to look at achievements its laggy now when it never used to be before, i dislike the pop-out effect.

I especially like the fact that double clicking on the taskbar icon can't spawn the friends window anymore, every time you boot steam it launches the selected window (can't select none) in fullscreen, right clicking on the taskbar icon as well as clicking on any of the ingame overlay icons requires like a full second of delay for the window to spawn, while playing a game you can't open any steam window at all via the taskbar icon (hahahaha), the color scheme is all over the place with the taskbar context menu being much brighter than anything on steam and the menus when you hover over e.g. library look just wrong.

That's just the immediately obvious stuff. A few of the issues listed also seem to be bugs rather than usual Valve ideas of a working GUI... well done, I guess alphas and betas and ♥♥♥♥ prior to an irrevertible launch never amount to anything. And don't get me started on the 4398574398753 bugs in regards to steam chat windows which never got fixed - and the ♥♥♥♥ level of rubbishness a company needs to wield for the store sound (e.g. trailer) to keep playing after you closed the window already is something we have to deal with since steam launched a store.

But hey, at least we have notes now. Certainly faster than alt tabbing to notepad.

While you are in the library tab Steam will keep the store tab open, if you were looking at a game it will cycle through screenshots and trailers.

That is not something Steam do for me.

I know that it'll keep playing if you just close the Steam client to the taskbar but the moment I jump to Library or any other section the video will stop playing.

How about returning the number of new messages, not saying you have read every new message because you opened the notifications, you know, the way it worked before the update when it was usefull instead of this no performance no information downgrade.
