Remember user name, but not password.
The old UI use to remember my user name, but not my password.
Maybe there's a way to set it that I don't know about, but I can't seem to do it any more.

It use to keep steam secure and save me some typing.
Now I have to type everything, or be perma logged in.
A minor annoyance, but an annoyance all the same.

Nullible I would like to ask the same question if you do not mind; How did it and how do you know it kept your Steam secure.

The auto sign in feature never worked for me, but now I am glad It did not work .

A little bit of typing did nobody any harm.

New steam update showed this. The function does exist.

It means you could have the convenience of Steam remembering your user name and you only having to enter your password.

Having "Remember me" checked would automatically sign in whenever Steam would be started.
By anyone on that machine.
Which could be problematic for security in some situations.

Esp. as the functionality to remember signed in users has a long and storied history of on-and-off not working correctly. There has been a very, very persistent issue on Windows where for every Windows user account, if that user started Steam they would automatically sign-in with whatever Steam user signed in last and had "Remember me" checked.

So even if you would use a shared machine that would have proper user segregation set up at the OS level, Steam could screw you over.

Right so when I said I understood the convenience claims, you thought you needed to explain that because...? And how does that convenience make Steam more secure?

The convenience doesn't.
Having the convenience of having your user name remembered without also having your password remembered and enacting an automatic sign-in, does.

Maybe not ask a leading question the next time.

I agree with you.

After the last update, when logging into Steam, the username no longer saved. Every day when you enter Steam, you have to write a username, this is very inconvenient.

I made a bug report about this the day the update dropped
