Adult Educational Games?
So I've been wondering why I can't find more adult educational games. Not just on Steam, but for most of the internet. I grew up on things like Math Blasters and other games like that. Why is there nothing like this for adults? Am I seriously that small of a demographic?

Granted, I'm not expecting a lot and there wouldn't be that much for my very specific demographic, but why not at least something? I dunno, maybe it's just easier with things like math. I can't help but think that we couldn't have more literature, math, science, history, and language based games. Games that actually teach a real world applicable skill. If we can sell Farm Simulator and Logging Simulator, why can't we get something like that for other career choices?

They could function like puzzle games even. I dunno. Thoughts?

I think that educational games work better for kids, whereas the thinking is that adults can just read a book or watch a video. Not that I think there shouldn't be educational games for adults (it would be a neat idea), but that's what I think the reasoning is.

It's just one more method and it's a method that works. If adults play games, why can't they learn from them? I would think that all you really need is a basic plot, a good programmer, some funding and appropriate advertisement. Steam does plenty of that. Wish I knew the people that could do it and bring them together to actually take on the project.

Simple : if you can't convince a dev to do such a game, make it yourself.
Should you be able to build up a team of devs (think coders and graphic artists at first), grennlight and early access now allows you to easily produce your educational game.

Sometimes, it takes a popular indie game to sparkle interest in a genre.

I have no programming ability myself and I don't know anyone who does, otherwise I would. I suppose I'll just have to add this to the list of things in the world I'm just going to have to fix myself if I want to get it done. That list never seems to get any shorter...

What about The Political Machine? Or is that an overexaggeration?

I'm not familiar with that game. I saw Democracy, but from what I've been told it's about as realistic as Papers, Please.

That doesn't really fit into adult level education like Calculus, Trignometry, Macroeconomics, or Biology.

the difficulty required toqualify it as adult would take the fun out of it.
