Steam support powerless

People are at the mercy of unscrupulous moderators. The only recourse they have is Steam support and they will not intervene. So one can hardly call it support when they will not even consider the case. I was permanently banned from Civ 7 forum for including a quote from Bug's Bunny in my post. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought that would be flagged by "moderators" let alone lead to a permanent ban.
There really needs to be an appeal process to protect the community.

Developer bans you would need to contact the Developer or Publisher. Theres very few cases they'll get involved and remove developer bans as its their personal space to operate.

Its always funny people have to dance around what they said, knowing full well its so offensive they cant actually tell you what it is. Then they complain about 'moderation'.

Game hub bans are done by the game devs or their appointed moderators.
You need to contact the devs to appeal the ban.
Steam support cannot remove any bans.

Mods should be subject to more stringent guidelines. As it is, they are only encouraged by Steam to be thoughtful. There are different ways one can be thoughtful. Vindictive or hateful can still be thoughtful. I suspect as I share this experience they will have steam revoke my Founder's edition without compensation. While that will teach me a $188 lesson it will not affect me otherwise since I cannot even bring myself to play it.

Free speech does not exist on or in privately owned places.
Freedom of Speech only stops the GOVERNMENT from censoring you.
Businesses are well within their rights to censor you.

Its fun when people actively show they are not actually interested in free speech but in fact want to be free from repercussions from their actions.

Your freedoms end where another's begin, for example someone's freedom to curate their own space.

Read the community message, because permanent bans are usually Developer or Hub Moderator, ie Developer picked.

That is why Valve doesn't typically get involved.

Follow the rules of the hub, stay on topic about the game itself, or chance temporary or permanent removal. Simple concept.

Nah, people should be able to show trolls and people arguing in bad faith just to disrupt the space for other users the door.
