Player Trade Forum
I'd love to see a flea market or barter area (forum?) to trade - a game for a game.

I understand I don't exactly own the games in my library, it's a contract with STEAM but there has to be some way for us players to offload or trade games we waited too long to play and realize it was a waste of money.

Ideally, I could post them on the card trading forum -- I mean, I'd be thrilled to get six cents for Alan Wake.. :berserk:

You must realise that this is a non-starter. The licenses are non-transferable.

Leaving aside why this is a bad idea for devs or for Steam, how about for users?

Supposing your account gets phished and someone plunders your game collection the way they currently can plunder your inventory?

Licenses are permanently locked to your account unless the dev revokes the copy/game key. So, nothing to trade.

People don't like all kinds of things now. It'd also be a boon for Steam BECAUSE the "licences" are actually a contract with Steam, mostly.

...just, wow. :DTwenty:

Devs? Or STEAM? I never read the fine print.

Honestly I just want to trade Alan Wake for ANYTHING :steamfacepalm:
Be careful what you wish for. If you want to sell or trade games from your library, then you're also asking for higher prices and no more sales.

if you want to be able to trade your game licenses, you need to get your lawmakers to force it.

use the search next time, this has been brought up far too many times and its extremely rare for anyone to bring anything new to this party.

On the contrary, the OP has brought Enthusiasm! And you yourself have brought Humour! Imagine the petition going before the EU to have licenses transferable just so someone can trade off a copy of Alan Wake...

Actually, steam wouldn't benefit because if two people trade games which they don't want, then they would have up to two less sales because they potentially would have bought the other game if not for someone else having it to trade to them.

If you'd be happy for just six cents to be rid of the game, it sounds like you really just want it gone. Steam already has a method to remove games you don't want from your account. It isn't perfect, but it at least gets the game out of your library.

Even then, the license for the game is permanently attached to the account.
Even if you don't see it in your library anymore, the license is still there.
