Feature Suggestion: Built-in Steam SDR for Lower Ping
I’d like to suggest a new Steam feature called Steam SDR (Steam Dynamic Routing) — a built-in network optimization system designed to reduce ping, packet loss, and jitter for any online game launched through Steam.

Valve already uses Steam Datagram Relay (SDR) technology in titles like CS2 and Dota 2 to provide secure and optimized connections through Valve’s global backbone.
The idea is to extend this SDR infrastructure to all online games on Steam, even those that don’t natively use Steam Networking Sockets.

Steam SDR could automatically detect when a player launches an online game and route its traffic through the nearest and fastest Valve relay nodes, improving stability and latency.
For games that already use Steam Networking Sockets, the system would integrate seamlessly.
For others, users could optionally enable a “Network Boost Mode” in the Steam settings.

Many MP games chose not to use built in features like this for their own reasons.

CoD is one of many examples.
