A extra drive to store Steam games.
I would like to see Valve add in a virtual drive that can store up Steam games that are large so they don't interfere with my other storage, What I mean is when you 1st install Steam, it creates a D:\Drive for free called D:\Steam.

And where does the virtual drive take the space from?, out of the void?.

No, it's like a VM hard drive but it stores the game(s) but if you download DLC, it will store it into the virtual hard drive. (The content will be downloaded.)
And you can still play the content.

so you want to stream the games? maybe one day.

No, I don't mean by stream but some extra storage.
eram Mar 16, 2021 @ 10:50am
and how do you access this extra storage? you will have to use your internet connection to either download onto your pc or stream it.

It will not get you extra storage without taking the space from somewhere else. It's much easier to create an additional partition than to make a virtual drive.

What? And where is this magical storage going to be located? You can't just store things in the air. There has to be a physical drive somewhere.

Well, when you download the Steam program, it makes a hard drive (a virtual one) to store LARGE Steam games like big ones like Forza, Half-Life, TF2, and more.

It will create a D:\Drive.
If your confused, I will give you an example.

When you buy an extra storage drive and move installation of game file by rightclicking the game properties>local files tab >move installion files to external drive Steam folder then make a new library point library to the new Steam folder on external drive all your games downloads will now default to this directory as per default library.. As you can now understand Steam has no jurisdiction over this only you.

Sorry, I will now close this form post. If you have any more questions, Just message me on Steam.

If your data is not being stored on YOUR computer physically - it is online, and thus you would have to stream it from wherever it exists.

Valve isn't going to do that for you.

Get a hard drive.

i do think game streaming will be more of a thing in the year/years to come.

Yeah but it's not going to be a "virtual drive", it's literally renting games, not space for them.
