Please, disable hyperlinks
Lastly, there has been a trend of people posting pishing links, by accident someone could click on them, why dont admins just disable hyperlinks others than steam or youtube?

Just don't click on them. Problem solved.

I doubt they will do that. It will censor what people have to say and what they (legitimate users) want others to see in links. These phisihing schemes are pretty obvious and easy to avoid. People already have to put up with changes in market rules because of them. No need to tell them they can't use links now. People just need to learn what is a scam and to not click the links.

Private profile and level 0 , you are obviously new here, you have no idea where scammers put links, and most of people fall, is steam resposability to protect their users.

So now they just write: "See what my friend wrote, copy and paste this to your browser www.fakelinktohackyouraccount.net.co.uk.com/hackhackhack"

Your point?

we can just disable the Internet while we're at it. You know, so we can protect people from themselves...

See, you are assuming that I am new because of my profile settings. This is not true. You must be new here because otherwise you would know that a private profiles lvl always appears as 0 to other users who are not friends.

It is YOUR reponsibility to protect your account. It says as such in the terms of service. I know exactly how scammers work and how to avoid them. The people who fall for the scams are either inexperienced with the scammers or some other reason. Steam cannot defend everyone from their bad decisions. That is the people's job. To think for themselves.

Why not? I am a human, just like you. I have opinions and have been on the Internet for longer than a good portion of this userbase has been alive.

Yeah but as a forum moderator you shouldnt be sarcastic to users giving ideas to reduce the number of people being scammed, just that.

This idea has come up before. It is limiting what people have to say. That isn't looked at as helpful in any way. People don't like being limited in communication. It is as simple as that. People can speak how they wish... that is the great thing about the internet. And nobody should be willing to throw that away.

It may be a bit sarcastic but it's the truth. Education is the only thing that's going to curtail the scamming. Scammers are always going to find another way.

Nobody is telling not to remove their links, just dont make them clickable.

"Scammers will always find another way"...as Silicon Vampire said. The links are not the problem the scams are. Even if you disable the links the scammers will find another method, they always do. People need to learn about the scams and avoid them. That is the only way that scamming will be halted or slowed down.
