Moderation should be replaced by real people
At this point, I'm convinced that Steam Moderation is nothing more than a bunch of AI programs running human names. I've seen so many different terrible things slip by the mods, harassment, discrimination, racism. A lot of that is still up.

Yet you say one slightly rude thing to someone else, and it's straight to Mordion Gaol with you.

I think that's kind of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up, because if being rude is against Steam's TOS... then a lot of the other ♥♥♥♥ I've seen is definitely against it.

Hell, I've intentionally created three threads in this very forum to take the piss on a topic, because everyone's oh so horrified about the Jester Award... it gives me free points. Not one of them were locked or deleted. Not a single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ one. The mods didn't even look twice.

Hell, I've made them stupider with each iteration. Something a real life, breathing human being would have picked up on and came down upon me for. But there's been nothing.

They say that they use the forums, but I'm convinced at this point that they don't. I'm 100% convinced that it's a bunch of bots programmed and trained to look for certain things and once those things get reported. That's when the bots are finally unleashed upon the forums to track down that post and delete it or lock the thread if necessary.

We need real live human beings moderating the Steam Forums if we're going to keep these things up.

Hence if someone keeps reporting content incorrectly as such, they can get into trouble for abuse.

Well, that's good to hear, Mod Scientist. Are you able to provide an example of that, though? Of course, after the vmods retired.
You could always see for yourself and go on a reporting spree. After all, aren't you the one who love doing experiments?

Don't need to when other people have done it already.

Well, you wanted an example. No better way than to try it out for yourself.

Go ahead. Report me for being white, then report Mad for being a redhead. Then proceed down this route to report people for nonsensical reasons.

I can guarantee you that you'll get yourself in trouble in the near future once the mods gets to that barrage of reports.

That said. Moderation is weird these days. I have LEGIT no idea how I managed to dodge a ban for so long with my overall behavior. It's weird.

:WH3_greasus_rofl: Funny idea, that's not what I asked, though. I was referring to numbers.

oh.

I never got into trouble for reporting a lot personally. That said, my reports are mostly on obvious stuff. (Straight out insults, racism, scams, etc....)

As someone who has moderated several forums over time, including one game's forum on Steam, I can confidently say that pretty much any time moderators aren't taking action it's because they don't know there's a problem.

Everyone assumes "surely someone else must have already reported this".

No. They haven't. And even if they have, moderators aren't going to gun you down for giving them a second notification about a post they need to take action on.

It's more the fact that it's "what's" a problem or "who's" the problem. Rather than what the TOS says. By the way, my ban was overturned.

No they're not. I can assure you they're very human.

Ah, yes. I guess you've met some of them years ago, don't you?
