Update to game playtime counter
I have a couple suggestions for an update to the counter that says how much time you've spent on a game.

1. Offline playtime should count

If you are offline for some reason, like your internet is down or you're out of the house, it would be nice for the time you play on games to be listed in the total playtime counter. For example, I have some games I have played for hours, but they list less than 30 minutes because I was offline.

2. Add playtime counter to non-Steam games

It would be nice to see how much I've played non-Steam games like League of Legends, Minecraft, or World of Tanks. You can see if someone is playing the game, so why not see how much the game was played? (At least the machine being played on should see it).

Both of these could be solved by having a counter on the local machine that synchronizes with the Steam database when connected to the internet. To cut the upload resources, have the new local counter only try to upload once the game session is done. If the user is not connected to the internet (or is just offline), queue a synchronization once you go back online.

For example, I start playing Portal 2. The system tracks the time I play. After 4 hours I turn off the game. Steam then tries to upload the value to the Steam Databases. If it works, the local copy is deleted. If it doesn't, it saves the value until a connection to Steam is made.

If you play more than one game during the offline period, just use one value for each game, and upload them all at once.
