A Real Poker with Real Stakes on Steam?
Would this ever be a possibility? I don't know how the rules on gambling, and online services such as Steam work in regards to this kind of subject.

I know we have TTS and various single-player games.

Would it ever happen: Steam approves a release of a Poker game, where players use "Steam Funds" to buy chips (Steam gets a % and game devs get a %) and we use those as bets on the table.

Maybe this is really a layman's description, but i hope someone gets the idea. I would just love to play Poker on Steam with other Steam users and have stakes. So people don't just play and quit randomly with no repercussions.

Whats wrong with the idea? We already gamble with every game released on Steam that isn't of the quality that we are used too.

I would like this and am a big poker player, but I can see some problems. Gambling classifications vary country to country so there would be a lot to work out. Also, I could see hijackers buying the game and using it to transfer funds to other accounts. like if the hijacker and a smurf account of his are the last two players that are in on a hand, the hijacker could bet all the stolen funds on the hijacked account knowing the smurf account would win or having the hijacked account bet 99% of their funds then the smurf account raises by the smallest amount possible and the hijacked account then folds.

Not the same thing. And no...you aren't really gambling. If it says in big red letters OVERWHELMINGLY NEGATIVE...don't buy the game. I promise, you don't get a big red percentage in a casino.

I like gambling but Steam probably isn't the place for it.

Highly unlikely. Steam is a gaming platform as opposed to a gambling one. The two mediums are way apart in terms of concept and ethics. Valve would need a monster platform to run such a concept and have adequate staff in place to satisfy the existing Steam community. They would also need to obtain full worldwide licences and implement tough security restrictions in place. They'd also have to go toe to toe with the elite players in the market who already have established sites and playerbases.

The money side of CSGO and DOTA2 has caused enough carnage on Steam and poker would completely destroy it IMO.
