yes. yes. i've been looking for this discussion since i didn't wanna open a new one.
every time i get disappointed for not being able to do that.
(and it is houre played before the review was written right?)
This might be useful right now, though the problem is that if people start using this, then people who write reviews might skew the reviews and make their own reviews more visible simply by idling the game.

true but what percentage would do that? and it should atleast allow for a search by hours played. like " i don't want reviews with 10 min in it but more like 30hrs and 60hrs".

so either a filter or a sort by hours played would still be better than nothing where someone would just open the game and then put up a review

There are "protection rackets" going around where some group leaders demand free keys from developers in return for directing a team of reviewers to give them good reviews. The Original Curators Group is this.

So yes, people will go to...interesting lengths, to make their stuff visible.

Kinda irrelevant really. Hours basically means little since many games can be run without the steam launcher (for some it's used as a quick stability fix,. And FOr others it's how you get them to work with certain Mods and enhancers.

Then there's the fact that hours basically don't tell a picture, many people idle games just to get the card drops , not actually playing them.

hiw about a by achievment thing. like it tell you how many achiements that person got in the game so this way it would paint a better picture than the people that play the game for less than an hour then rate it

Including the achievement status (count over total) for that person might help, but do keep in mind that (1) it's possible to cheat achievements, and (2) not all games have achievements.

As is... filtering by hours played is just needless. Especially with the goal being to find 'proper' or 'honest' or 'real' reviews. There's no set definition for either. Honestly I wonder why people find it so hard. Search bositive by popularity and wiuthin the first 5-10 you'll find at least one well written review. Do the same for negative.

Reading positive and negative will give you an idea what people like and what people disliked.

Isn't this the whole reason we have creators? Most top rated reviews won't always be helpful (even though they'd get rated as helpful) although suggesting a filter for the reviews by Most Play Time or Most Earned Achievements, I can see where you're coming from. But then again anyone can just use SAM or Idle Master and get top rated in a flick of a finger.

I wouldn't consider this to be useful nor will it give a huge change to the review system.

Idle Master doesn't work like that. Once you receive all the cards, you cant idle the game using Idle Master, so it wouldn't be helpful in this regard.

I've used it on over 30 games and none has taken longer than 3 hours, even the large card set games.

This. Stop relying on automated systems to aid you in something that you can sort yourself. Your eyes will tell you if the review is worth it or not within seconds, even if you haven't read the whole thing.

you are all correct but such stuff is just useful to filter out the people who didn't play the game long enough to be able to junge it well and if you want it also helps t filter out the hardcore if you just want a game to invest in to a limit
Start_Running Dec 15, 2015 @ 10:03am
Never said anything about idle master. I just meant people who start the game and leave it running in the background,. Heck there's a known issue where some games don't close entirely which can cause you to rack up majoir hours since while the application window is closed and gone the game's process is stiull running.

BUt yeah, there is no 'amagic' perfect review. The thing about user reviews is that different users will give slightly diufferent reviews. The idea is to pick out the commonalities to get a general picture. THe negatives will give you an idea of what irked people who bought the game and the positives will give you an idea what made them happy.

How long does it take for you to know you're eating a ♥♥♥♥ sandwich?
Negative reviews will invariably have shorter playtimes because who i gouing to spend 20 hours in a game they do not like?

Actually, I got a much easier filter that you can use yourself.

Just look at how long the review is.

Ignore the ones with fewer than, like, five lines of text.

The longer ones usually say something meaningful. The shorter ones, much less likely.
