Scrolling with a touchpad

Would really appreciate if the Steam application allowed touchpad users to scroll with the touchpad instead of clicking and dragging the scroll bar.

I don't really use my touchpad on my laptop very often since I have my already plugged in mouse, but it might be useful for some if that were implemented.

The right side of my touch pad allows me to scroll up and down and the bottom allows me to scroll left and right. I'm on Win 8.1

If I recall correctly, it's possible but not done smoothly.

It barely works at all.

I try using it, and the screen scrolls up/down by one line then stops, for every swipe I make.

This applies to both the in-client browser and the library in detailed view.

I did some searching, and was able to get this to work with my laptops Synaptics touchpad, specifically with chiral scrolling enabled (or sometimes called 'edge' scrolling). Thought I'd see if it was something others here might want to know, and sure enough, found a few old posts about it...

The details involve a registry setting change, and restarting the touchpad process[superuser.com].

After I did this, I was able to use edge scrolling perfectly in steam. Your mileage may vary. Here are a copy of the same instructions if you are interested:

• Edit the registry and add a DWORD at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTPEnh with name UseScrollCursor and value 0
  
• Restart process SynTPEnh.exe

Of course, only attempt this if you are remotely comfortable with these kind of actions.

I've literally played Terraria on touchpad before.

If you want portable gaming, mouse is one more doodad to bring.

I use a Surface 3 to do all the community stuff. My gaming is on desktop.
