The tax information requirement on Steam is not releveant here.
Using local currencies gives users more options to pay for things on Steam than would be otherwise possible.
Which would be the majority of Steam users who you know live in Thailand right? Because... its Thailand
If that's the case what do you care how you GIVE it to them.
You're paying far CHEAPER prices now that the conversion is done. I'm not really seeing what all the whining is about.
Instruction manuals are not even a comparison point heer.
And again given that no other country is allowed to magically change their supported home currency, and that it makes zero sense to do so, why do you get special dispensation?
Doing business on your local currency always comes at a price. Still, the number of local users that can now do business with Steam easily outnumbers the vocal minority complaining.
If you could have the choice as in 'there was no issue with you using USD' they wouldn't need to go to the time and trouble to set up all these other currencies for the countries. They would just leave everyone on what they were on.
The way it worked before was taht a dev woudl set a USD price and you'd simply get that. Now devs set a USD price and you get a converted price in Thai Baht. It doesn't work the other way because the conversion is not a strict currency conversion metric since most games in Baht are significatly less expensive than in USD
it is not on any economical / financial reason
