How about you stopped putting free weekend games on top of my recently played games
It really pisses me off i am used to have my currently played game on top of that list and just launch everything through that but today i was greeted by a Interstellar Marines instalation prompt when in fact i wanted to play what i played yesterday.
You may think that it is not big a deal but everytime that ♥♥♥♥ happens i have to launch 5 games to get rid of the stupid ♥♥♥♥ games i never asked for polluting my recently played list.
It is spam that what it is, steam is spamming my recently played list with promos in hoped that i will notice them and install it and maybe buy it. Well I am not gonna buy it su Fak off take your free weekend spam and shove it up where the sun dont shine or wherever, just do not put it on my recently played games list. Cause i sure as hell had not recently played it as i do not own it and never will.

Interesting, I've never had this problem. If I don't recently play a free weekend game, I don't see it show up on my recently played list.

Im on the beta client. The free weekend game does not affect my recently played.

If I know I'm not goimg to play it then

i just use the hide option in categories.

I must agree. I too have had my system tray icon right click populated with free to play games at the top. This and the tactic of spamming special offer coupons into your inventory may not be a big thing but it is more intrusive than I like. It's not like there isn't enough opportunity within the Steam client to spam these offers in our face.

I agree 100%. Stop that ♥♥♥♥ please! First dino d-day during last weekend and just after now interstellar marines! Let the recently played games please what it is... recently played games and not some new ad space :rrazz:

I agree. This was my first experience having my menu violated in this manner. I thought my account had been hacked and someone else had loaded something. This isn't a positive customer experience. In fact, it's quite a hostile one.

You need to look up the definitions of 'hostile' and 'violated' then. Also, find some things to really get offended about.

I have never had this problem. I have used both released steam and beta steam. Just FYI if you use a card idler. You do not have to have ever played, installed or have any knowledge of the game. If you run a card idler it will access any game that is available including but not limited to any games that have free trail offers or even f2p games that are on promotion.

Never had this happen to me either and have been using steam for about 10 years.

Free Trial Games In Recently Played List
Hello, I don't know when it started exacly, but I noticed the game "Interstellar Marines" appeared at the top of my recently played list (the one that appears when you rightclick the steam icon in the taskbar)

While I don't mind games offering free trials, I find sincerely disturbing for a game I have shown no interrest toward, have not purchased, nor installed and even less played, to appear in that list, which is personally, how I start games on steam most of the times.

Not only that, but it went down to 2nd position in the list after launching a game, but one day after, it was back up at the top of the list.

I personally consider this as intrusive advertising, and would really appreciate if there was a way to avoid it.

If there is currently no way to disable it, I really think this practice should either stop or an option to avoid it should be implemented.

Feel free to leave your feedback about the issue, or if for some reason free trial games do NOT appear there for you!

Thank you for your time, and sorry if my english is not 100% gramatically correct, it is not my main language.

Started to happpen to me. First time it happened last week with Dino D-day and again this week with the stupid early access Interstellar Marines. In fact it has returned to the top of that list today for some strange reason.

The February 4th client beta update changed how the recent list is determined to include recently purchased games.

The most likely explanation is that while coding that, they forgot to take free weekend games into account. In other words, it's a bug. Might be more constructive to report the bug rather than go off on a rant about it being spam.

Stop adding games I don't own to my quicklaunch options
It's annoying and nobody wants it.
Dorgrim Feb 12, 2015 @ 12:15pm
Steam, I don't appreciate you taking over my recently played list and forcing your Free Weekend for games that I've no desire to play in the first place.
Schnebie Feb 12, 2015 @ 12:25pm
Thanks Steam...[imgur.com]

omfg its getting worse... now 3 out of 5 games in my list are "free to try" games... stop that ♥♥♥♥ asap please

I came here to voice the same thing as OP did: I do NOT want to see games I have not played on top of the list which is supposed to show my own, recently-played games. That is effing annoying!
